Christmas Day, Pt. 2

Dudes, I know ya'll are getting tired of my Christmas stuff but it's totally my blog so I'll, just, you know, DO WHATEVER I WANT. Because I'm great like that.

So.  Where did I leave off? Right. After eating/visiting/avoiding annoying cousins, we went back to the folks' house for more gift explosion.

I'll be the first to admit that I go a little nuts buying for the little kids. Toddlers love stuff and Sis2 had warned me that if I got them more than one thing I'd need to wrap each thing separate because the unwrapping of the gift/gifts is the ACTUAL gift. They don't really care what's in it so long as they can unwrap it. Which is kinda awesome.

But the most awesomest part?

Missing this expression head on.

It was just a Little Golden book about how Dora saves the Unicorn Kingdom or something. But she loved it. And yes, I gave it to her. So I was pretty thrilled that she got so excited. But since her mama was sitting off to the left taking pictures, Sis2's the one who got the awesome full face excitement shots.

Story of my life.

That one right there was a $5 wooden Tinkerbell puzzle set. Also from me. I'm a winner at picking gifts, apparently.

These kids had a TON of stuff to open, though. I got them five gifts, each all individually wrapped and I the Nana and Bobo got them about five or six gifts each. Plus Sis1 got them each one or two things. She went for the "big" ticket items where I went for five gifts costing around $5 each.

Except for the horses. Those were $8 at Dollar General. They make horse whinnie sounds and so far no windows have been broken or eyes poked out. Yet.

I didn't get hardly any decent photos of Efan because (or bacuz, as a speaker we had last week pronounced it--an attorney, no less) he was off in the corner opening his stuff with Nana and Bobo's help.

That up there? Just about all my shots of Efan. His back. How awesome is that??

Not very. Except he's cute all the way around so still I"m not losing. And all that stuff over by Sis1? That giant stack? That's about a third of Lyssa's haul. I'm telling you. Those kids wracked up.

And Lyssa's set to be any Disney Princess she wants to be. Nana was smart and hit up the after Halloween sale and scored three Disney Princess costumes at like $2 a piece or something--Snow White, Cinderella and Ariel. And if she'd bought these out of the toy section for dress-up? $10-12 bucks each. Or more.

Anyway, after the kids got done and us sisters swapped gifts, Sis2, Goofus and the kiddlets had to get home. Well, first they had to unload the folks' living room into their Volvo and THEN they had to get home. ;-)

I headed home a few minutes later, full of exhaustion

Libby was thrilled with this turn of events, too. She had toys to explore, as well!

Lyssa picked this hamburger plush out for Libby and that devilish pup had a BLAST with it when we got home Christmas night. She tossed it, carried it, chewed it, hit me in the face with it and generally made merry with it.

See the odd star shaped thing in the background of the above pic? Yeah. That's what "Santa" brought her. It's actually a deer. A long legged cartoonish plush deer. She couldn't care less about it now. Won't go near it. Next year? Totally getting coal.

She finally gave out and gave her new blanket a spin. With her burger, natch.

The blanket is actually one of those pet blankets they make to protect furniture of muddy paws, dog hair, etc. Since I'd been covering the love seat with a sheet during the day, I figured this would be a stylish(ish) alternative. Except it's too short. So it goes under the sheet now for it's water proof qualities.

Anyway, after the DP finally settled down, she and I snuggled up and watched a Christmas movie on Hallmark.

And you want to know the most absolute bestest part of the day ever?? I DIDN'T CRY!! Not one tear. It was a happy day and my soul was thrilled. A no tears Christmas. Utter joy. :-)

Even in profile the look on Lyssa's face upon seeing the book is awesome. And what a smart Grandma, shopping the after-Halloween sales for dress-up costumes. Brilliant idea!

LOL Yep, for sure. It helps that Sis2 is so good at keeping us "in the know" as far as what the kids are into. She called Nana from Wal-Mart the day after Halloween and said, "They've got Disney costumes 75% off! Hello, Christmas?" hehehe

I sent my little 4 year old nephew a Spiderman costume for Christmas...also from the markdown rack. It lights up and everything. My sister says he loves to run around with his 'muscles' on! :)

It was the hubby's idea!

Looks like you had a great Christmas!
