Snow Daze

So I ended up leaving early Wednesday to drive Daddy's truck home. And I must say this just to get it out there...not so fond of driving Daddy's truck. Got nothin' against driving trucks, as a rule. I used to love driving his truck. But it needs new shocks. And the transmission is testy. And it's dirty, smelly and littered with manly hunter-ish paraphernalia. And his brakes are weird. But I drove it 45 minutes to home. In the SNOW. Yup. By the time I actually left, it was snowing. Not hard, but snowing, nonetheless. By the time I got home it was snowing so hard I couldn't hardly see. Unheard of phenomenon 'round here. Freaky weather, ya'll. Freak. E. So needless to say, once I got home I snuggled down in my pj's with the Devil Pup and watched TV and read a book. Mostly read a book. The TV was just on for background noise. Every now and then I'd look out the window and stare at the freakishly heavy snow. It was swirling and covering everything. I...

Ima Dork

That's my new name. hehehe *sigh* Did I fail to mention who I saw at the funeral yesterday? I probably did. Well, several people from my childhood were in attendance. People with whom I'd attended church with all the years I was growing up--back when this particular preacher was our pastor. And well...my childhood crush, R, was there. (The one I cyberstalked on MySpace recently. hehehe) I actually followed him out afterwards though I didn't realize it was him until we were out of the building and he'd gone one way and I the other. I didn't actually SEE him until I was standing outside with the folks and Sis2. I happened to glance over my shoulder and saw him. He was shaking hands with someone else we'd known back then. I couldn't help but stare. The boy still looks gooooood. When he looked up and glanced at me, like a dork, I spun around away from him as though he'd caught me peeping through his window or something. *groan* Yup. Ima Dork. That's my...

Change of Posts

I had scheduled a post yesterday (and it posted before I could change it) where-in I whined about my first childhood crush "Friending" my aunt but not me. But when I checked my email this morning, I had a friendship request from him. Turns out he's remarried and expecting a kid. And he just got laid off from his job. So I can't hate on him too badly now. *sigh* So, since I decided to ditch that post and start over and I have nothing interesting to say, I'll leave you with this in hopes that Spring will soon show her lovely face.

And this time, she didn't even get any in her hair! Impressive! So the girls night out last night was okay, I guess. I'd have rather been at home. Mrs. B ended up not coming. They had a calf emergency. So that was a bummer. I ended up being shunted to the end of the table  between one woman I don't know at all and another I don't know all that well (friends of my friends) and got left out of a lot of the conversation. You know how it is when your friends have other friends with them. They tend to spend more time engaging their other friends. At least that's always been my experience. The movie was okay, I guess. The love interests in it were really super hot and we got into a silly discussion about which one was hotter. (I voted Peter, her childhood crush.) And Billy Burke (Charlie in the Twilight movies) plays Red Riding Hood's dad. And while he has crazy hair in this film, he's still hot. So I guess the hotness of the men in the movie make up a bit f...

A Little Then and Now

circa 1988   When I was a young girl--around eight or nine--he came to be the pastor at our church. At just twenty-four, ours was the first church he'd ever pastored at a time when he wasn't even sure he wanted to BE a pastor. He gave it a shot, though, and unbeknown to him, became a driving force in my young life.   Truth be told, my younger self had a bit of a crush on him. He was fun and funny and handsome in a way I hadn't yet discovered men could be handsome. Unlike the boys in the youth group, he didn't take himself too seriously. He didn't try to be cool. He was just a fun guy who was navigating his life in the direction he felt the Lord moving him in. That was unbelievably cool.   He was, of course, married, as most handsome and fun men in their early-to-mid twenties were back then. His wife was a shy, sweet woman who played the piano and sang. I was rather fond of her, as well. I wasn't a terribly popular young girl, even among church fol...

Of Men and Werewolves

Okay, so admittedly in prior months I've been shallowly drooling over a particularly muscular (and squickily underage) werewolf via Twilight. Yes, the muscles are droolworthy for sure. But I was team Jacob way before I ever saw Taylor Lautner's washboard abs. I've been thinking lately about the kind of men I'm attracted to. Not that it matters since no one's ever attracted to me but it's just kinda funny to think about what it is that draws me to certain men. Both in real life and in television, movies and books. Probably the biggest thing I've discovered about myself is that physical features aka looks-- while nice-- certainly don't really mean all that much to me. Character does. Take my obsession with Chuck. Yes, Zachary Levi is (to me) physically attractive. But I hadn't really thought of him in that way until I started watching Chuck . And yeah, I had seen him in other movies/tv shows before. He was on Less Than Perfect (sitcom on ABC,...
