Rats, Cows and Other Critters

So this weekend was fairly nice...for the most part. Sis1 and Emmy came in to town Friday afternoon so Mama (aka my transportation) and I took off at 2 o'clock to go meet them at Wal-Mart so that Emmy could go home with Mama and me, since I was spending yet another weekend with them. Sis1 had plans to spend Friday night with friends. (Thank God. Love her to death but in small doses. lol) So guess where I spent most of Friday afternoon. (At least an hour and a half to two hours.) In the backseat of my mother's car in the Wal-Mart parking lot. lol Yeah, I can walk but me and any amount of distance don't mix. Besides, along with Emmy, Sis1 dropped off her thirty pound dachscund, Scarlett. Me and Scarlett spent some quality time in that backseat. (Exchange her for a handsome hottie and I'd have been a happy girl. lol) It was a beautiful day outside. The sun was out and the temp was just wonderful. We had the windows rolled partially down to let the breeze in and Scarlett sp...

The Story: Part Two

So, okay, I left off with me going home in a straight brace, right? Well, I didn't go home home. I went to my parents' home. Mama just really didn't want to send me home in that thing and I, for once, wasn't so intent on maintaining my independence. lol So I went home with Mama and got the full pampered treatment for nearly a week. I had my meals (real, actual homecooked meals) brought to me on a tray in the recliner in the living room. For the first couple of days my dad even let me watch what I wanted to on the television. Sweeeet!   Probably the hardest part for me, those first several days, was bathing. Sure, sitting still with my leg up and sleeping on my back were misery. Not being able to drive myself or do my own grocery shopping was and is darned irritating. But the bathing...that sucked. A) It was scary trying to climb in and out of the tub and B) my mother had to help me. Now, I know there are people in the world who will strip in front of just about anyone....

The Story: Part One

So the story of the past two weeks goes something like this: I woke up innocently enough on the 8th. Called in to let my boss know that I would be late coming in because my stupid heater was out and I needed to call the dude to come and fix it. Boss said that's fine. So I'm all bundled up in my sweats and flannel shirt and my thick Taz slipper socks when the heater man gets there. (Actually it's the same dude that works on my air conditioner. He and I are like best buds by now cuz my landlord's too cheap to actually REPLACE anything. But I digress.) So dude is banging around on the heater (a propane space heater) and I'm sitting on the couch, minding my own business watching Regis and Kelly when dude asks for some hot water to do something with the heater. What does hot water have to do with a gas heater and a non working pilot light, I'll never understand. However, this is were my life took a drastic turn...as did my kneecap aka Patella as I've learned to...

Back in Action

Hey ya'll. Sorry for the long absence and for anyone who may have worried. As Heather said in the comments of the previous post, I fought with a kitchen rug and the kitchen rug won. lol I'm still in a knee brace and hobbling around but I'm back at work...miserably, I might add. I had been feeling a little better but after a day of sitting uncomfortably in a desk chair I'm achy and tired and just really not feeling this whole "back at work" thing. I also have physical therapy today...in a few minutes, actually. So I can't stay long. Just wanted to pop in and give a grateful yell that I'm alive! hehehehe But in short, the doctor told me yesterday that he's pleased with my progress in therapy so far and ordered me to another month of the stuff before I come back to see him. He's still kind of iffy on the subject of surgery though he seems to think it's inevitable. I sort of wish he'd have gone ahead and sheduled me and gotten it over with....

Got a Life?

Okay, I have nothing to report from my weekend other than that Saturday a co-worker and I went to see our other co-worker who's in the hospital. Bren's doing better. She's heavily medicated but she said that she's feeling a little better. They're working on getting rid of the blood clots and stopping more from forming. She's sick of the hospital food and laying down most of the time but otherwise she said she feels better than she did last week. So that's a relief. :) So, since I don't have anything to snark about today I figured I'd "steal" from April's blog and post this movie list that is supposed to determine whether or not you need to get a life or not. Supposedly if you've seen over 70, you have no life. The one's I've seen have an X in the ( ), obviously, and the count for each section is at the top of the section. My score and comments to follow. Oh, and you see the words in green ? Those are my comments on the mov...

People Are Weird

Yes they are. You know they are. Heck, I'm weird, too. And prolly you too! Yes you are. You know you are. hehehe So yeah. Folks are weird. Just this morning I was weird. Okay, so most days I'm weird but today just jumps out at me. Well, this morning anway. As I was coming into work, I was rounding the corner to the hall towards my office and I see a co-worker in my department holding a kid. A toddler. (What is it about babies that draw our attention anyway?) When I get up to her I see the kid's dad and he's a co-worker from downstairs in a different department. A man I've never really cared to be around. Still, I stopped because a) my friend was holding his kid so I stopped to chat and b) because the kid, while not exactly cute, is still a kid and deserves a little friendly attention. I felt stupid though, standing there making cutsie faces at this kid while his dad, who I don't like and who apparently doesn't like me either, is standing there basically igno...

Passed Out: A Tale of Two Doses of Nyquil

I have a cold. Nasty, vile, vicious creature that it is, robbed me of my ability to breath properly and provided me with a wretched headache last night. Don't know if I mentioned it yesterday but Emmy cursed me (or put a hex on me. whatever.) Saturday night when I was messing with her about her milkshake. She said I was going to get a cold and cough my brains out for doing that to her. Well thanks, Ms. Emmy. Do you use your powers for good too? Or just to punish the evil? So I went home and ate supper, finished the last five pages of the book I was reading and then decided to knock back a dose of Nyquil. I love Nyquil. I love the way it burns as is slides heedlessly down your throat. I love the way it warms the blood in my veins and makes my insides tingle. Mostly I just love the way it knocks me on my butt. lol Maybe ten minutes passed after I took it before my head started lolling to one side and my eyes started getting heavy. Fifteen minutes and I was out like a light. No warni...

In Her Shoes

Oh, hey ya'll. I can't beLIEVE I almost forgot to tell ya'll...I went yesterday afternoon, after the oil, the inspection and the propane, and bought my very own copy of In Her Shoes and ya'll....it's awesome. It's very true to the book which, let's face it, is very rare. I wasn't disappointed at all. Toni Collette did and awesome job of portraying Rose. And while I maybe wouldn't have cast Cameron Diaz as Maggie, she does a great job of it. Shirley McClain was wonderful, too. Very understated but, again, very true to the character of the book. I'm still just really thrilled and amazed that they were able to maintain the feel of the book. Most book-to-movies manage to disappoint or confuse. And even some, like A Walk To Remember , though it was an enjoyable movie was vastly different from the book in many key ways. In Her Shoes , though, is a great adaptation. I was able to follow along and not think, Oh hey! They left out the best part! like I d...

Buckle up. The ride to Snarkville commences in T -45 seconds. hehe

Time, thou art a precious and elusive thing. lol Okay, so now that I have caught up with that badass, Time, I thought I might catch you up on the world according to Jana. (Like you care. lol) So okay, let me just say, first and foremost that the dudes at Express Oil ROCK! They are the nicest, friendliest, most wonderful set of mechanics and car techs that I've ever dealt with. Every time I've ever taken my car there to be serviced, I've never had anything but really nice men who don't talk down to me or make me feel stupid. I like that they smile widely and honestly and let me know everything exactly as they're doing it. So, hat's off to ye wonderful Express Oil men out there. (Yeah, I went and had the oil changed in my car yesterday.) Dudes at Gateway Tire? Not so much. :-p~~ Took my car in there yesterday to get it inspected (Is that just a Mississippi thing or do other states require yearly car inspections? I know Alabama doesn't. Hmmm...) I went in and t...
