Weekend Review: The 36th Birthday and Five day Weekend Edition

Image
Last week, y'all...Yuck. It was bananas. Fortunately, I had already made arrangements to be off Friday so I thankfully escaped the Friday craziness. And I've been told it was Ca-RAAAAzy. I was actually off Friday through yesterday. I'm one of those slackers who takes off for her birthday. haha    Actually, I took off Friday because Sis1 and Emmy were coming Thursday night to spend most of the weekend. We spent Friday playing, shopping and eating. We took the kids out for lunch and then the three old ladies went out for supper Friday night. Three steaks, medium well, please! ;-) Saturday was my birthday "party" which mostly just means my birthday was the excuse to get everyone to the folks' house to eat BBQ and cake. I did get presents, though, so there's that.   Unfortunately, it rained almost all day Saturday. We'd planned on going fishing Saturday morning and spending most of the day doing fun outdoors things. But, rain. Blah! No fishing. No out...

Brush a With Celebrity

Image
No, not me.  My cousin.  The girl he swept up is a correspondent for E! News.  It's not his first celebrity sale, but the first pic I've ever seen.  He used to be all clean shaven and crew cut hair. He went off to Texas to pursue a music career and went all Duck Dynasty on us. Ha

Weekend Review: The Hangin' with My Kids Edition

Image
Saturday was not my typical shopping and Sonic and home all day routine. Sis2 and I had planned to take the girl to see Cinderella but the kids wanted me to come play first. So I went to play.   The girl did my hair up with a purple braid to match my shirt. She, as you can see, wore pink.     The boy told me I needed to get my brain going. Touché, sweet boy. Touché.   But we had fun.     The girl enjoyed Cinderella, I think. But her FAVORITE part...the part she couldn't stop talking about...was the Frozen Fever short that preceded Cinderella.  It was a pretty cute short. Gives me hope that the sequel they've announced won't suck, as sequels are known to do.   We also treated the girl to a happy meal because she wanted the Barbie toy. Girl after my own heart, she is. But we also had fun playing with the light up table they installed when they remodled. It doesn't take much to amuse us, apparently.   ...

I Got Lost

Life, man. It's been insanely busy and super weird. Lots of consuming business going on at work so much so that when I get home I am ded . We ended up having an "ice day" on the 5th so I was at home for that but didn't really take pics or do anything interesting. Now it's the wet rainy early Spring and we are all drowning. It's been Spring Break on campus this week but I hardly even knew it because we're prepping for a couple of big upcoming events which means that today is the first day all week that I've been able to actually sit at my desk. All ya'll who've never worked in a library are probably like, "What? Librarians do more than shush people and check out books? What?" Academia, man. It's not for slackers, that's fo sho. Only thing I have enjoyed this week is the lack of traffic. I can get anywhere on campus that I want to go without any problems. Anywhere in town really. So I kinda dread next week. ha Today i...

Mississippi Blizzard

So I don't know if ya'll know it or not but us southern Bible Belters got hit by Snowmageddon last week. Like, NINE whole inches of snow. Laugh, northern friends. Laugh till your bellies ache and tears stream down your cheeks. But. I am here to tell you a little true story. You ready for it? Once upon a time, the southeastern region of the United States of America does not ever get that much snow. The End. I've never seen nine inches of snow. Ever. Never, ever in my whole entire 36 years (I'm rounding up) of life have I ever seen nine inches of snow. And really, nine is the estimate because everyone I know  in my county stopped measuring after seven and it snowed a few more hours after that. Big, fat, fluffy white snowflakes. And four inches of that nine piled up within the first HOUR. So. Yes. I stopped measuring at 3 inches because of laziness. Trees snapped in half from the weight. YES! Even the trees are ill equipped for that much snow! Thurs...
