Happy Christmas and See Ya Later

Don’t cry now. I’m about to tell you something important. Are you ready? Are you sure? Okay. Here goes. I will be away from blogdom for the next two weeks. Don’t fret. I’ll return on January 2nd full to bursting, I’m sure, with more snarks than you’ll ever want to read again. I will, after all, be in the presence of my family for a good portion of that time. They are always good for a good snark or ten. It’s strange really, when I think about it. Just a couple or three months ago I wasn’t even entirely aware of what a blog was. Sure as shoot wasn’t certain it was anything I’d ever want to participate in. But in just that short amount of time, I’ve become addicted. Not just to writing them, but to reading them as well. What is it about reading of others lives that is so gal-darn interesting? I guess it’s just great to get an “inside” look into what others think and feel and maybe find that there are people in the world who you can identify with and find similar thoughts, emotions and ex...

Scattered Thoughts

So my brain is soggy mush today. It's rained for 24 hours straight here and I've about had my fill of it. Come out sunshine, wherever you are! My cousin, B., (Jacob's uncle) scared me to death yesterday. I was leaving work, walking out the library when all of a sudden this tall dude comes rushing out and nearly bumps me out from under my umbrella. Just when I'm getting ready to karate chop him, I look up and it's B. He didn't have his umbrella so he thought it would be cool to hog mine. lol He's so silly. (He works in the library, too. Yes. It's a family business. hehehehe Almost seriously. At one time Sis2 worked there, too as a student assistant, as did I. Now B. is following our footsteps. hehehe) I baked cookies last night for the goodie bags I'm bringing to work tomorrow and I burned half of them. *sigh* I can't decide if I should go buy the stuff to make more or just dole out the ones that didn't burn. That would give everyone four cook...

Promised Pictures

Image
Here are the pictures I promised. This first one is poor Emmy who I decided to decorate before we started decorated Nana and Bobo's tree. She's such a good sport she let me. lol This next one is Emmy and her 20-something lb. dachscund, Scarlett. Emmy calls her her "sister" so I guess this is a display of sibling love? hehehe Next one up is a picture of my dining room after I got finished decorating. Anyone care to come dine at my table? ;-) Then there's my Christmas tree. It looks a little wonky in this picture. I've since rearranged some of the ornaments so that it doesn't look quite so awkward. hehe It's a little three footer in case you're wondering. Then last but not least, this is where me and Izzy hafta hang our stockings cuz I don't have a fireplace, ergo, no mantle to hang them on with care. This is the little mini-divider area seperating the living room from the dining room. Am I innovative or what? lol

Crazy Wildness of a Tuesday Afternoon

Standing in line at the post office is tiring. It's almost as tiring as sitting in a doctor's office and yeah, it's possible to spend as much at the post office as it is the doctor's. lol I took off work a couple or three hours early yesterday for just that, though. Going to the post office is a chore I normally despise and this time of year? Fuggetaboutit. I'd heard horror stories of lines that extended outside so I braced myself, gave myself plenty of time and plunged ahead. It sucks having your best friend live out of state. Plus, I had some prize goodies that I should have sent a looooong time ago. Otherwise, I wouldn't have gone. Wasn't too terribly bad though, when I got there. There was only one window open but there were only like three folks ahead of me so the wait in line wasn't all that long. Once at the window was a slightly different story. For one thing, the postal worker I dealt with looked and moved as though she were going to just drop r...

What Mythical Creature Resides In My Soul?

Image
Thanks for this one, Heather . It's very cool and I must say, I sorta like my answer. hehehe ELF You are an elf. An elf is like a human but much fairer and pure. Elves are usually tall, with pointed ears, and resemble humans very closely, but elves are usually much more beautiful. Elves are a distant race. They prefer to keep to themselves, because often, many of them feel that their race is superior to humans. Elves symbolize wisdom, prudence, love, and hope. They are very merry and happy. They are forever young and delight in music. They are natural artists as well. Which mythical creature resides in your soul? (11 Results + Pictures) brought to you by Quizilla

He Sees You When You're Sleeping

Is it just me or does this sound like the title to a good Mary Higgens Clark book? hehehehe And is it just me or does this make Santa a little bit of a stalker? I mean, you know, as kids we think about a pot bellied old man watching us sleep and we assign him this kind of god-like job. As an adult? A pot bellied old man watching me sleep has my fingers itchin' to dial 911. And why can't I cry? Heck, If I want to cry dag-gummit, I'm gonna cry. Sometimes a girl just needs a good cry. This doesn't make me bad. It makes me less PMSy. And who said being bad wasn't good? Sometimes it's just quite simply more fun to be bad than good. Santa needs to lighten up. I mean, he's the dude with the voyeuristic tendencies, you know. And I look really cute when I pout. Poke a little lip out. Cross the arms. Bat some eyes...I've gotten some of the best treatment when I'm pouting so is it really worth it to me to give it up for the sake of a dude in red who not only...

Which Reindeer Am I?

Image
Thanks, AJ for this one. ;) You Are Vixen Sexy and sultry, you're the one all the other reindeer dream about. Why You're Naughty: That fur pulling spat you got into with Dancer over Santa. Why You're Nice: Because even when you're nice, you're still delightfully naughty! Which of Santa's Reindeer Are You?

Mishaps, Asleep at the Wheel, and Finding a Quiet Moment

Or, as it's been called countless times, the Weekend Review. Friday morning dawned cold and bright. Thankfully, all the rain of the previous day had cleared away leaving a crisp clear cold in it's wake. Not that I like the cold, mind you, but the cold AND rain? Uh-uh. Me no likie. At. All. Despite the crisp cold air though, my morning started out rather dismal. I'd had a minor tiff with Sis1 on the phone the night before so I hadn't slept well. She had informed me that she would be spending the night at my house Friday night and when I informed her that I was still having plumbing problems, she went all diva on me so I went off on her or as she said, I got huffy. (This from a woman who snaps at you if you look at her wrong. I let my exasperation show and she gets pissed.) However much many women claim that fighting with sisters if par for the course, I've never liked fighting with my sisters. For whatever reason (my peacemaker tendencies perhaps?) it bothers me when...

Offended That You're Offended

I received this email by forward from my good friend Jinny. I agree whole heartedly with much of what the author stated and wanted to share it with the world. While I don't know how much of the world reads this blog, I figured this was as good a place as any to share it. If you're offended by it, good. As stated, I'm offended that you're offended. ;-) By Debbie Daniel I'm on a "Merry Christmas" mission and I'm in full throttle. My little yellow VW Beetle has turned into a Christmas billboard with Merry Christmas written across the back window. Yes, I've decided to trek off to work everyday on the public highways with a message that seems to offend people. At stop lights, I even turn my music up a little louder, and to top it off, I sing along with it. Don't I know that stopping at a red light to roll my windows down only to share the joy of Christmas carols on public streets is a No-No? Don't I fear the Christmas Gestapo and those who would...

How Scary Am I?

Image
So I'm lazy and uncreative today. All the carbs I just ate don't help. So here's a quiz instead of a "real" entry. ;-) You Are Not Scary Everyone loves you. Isn't that sweet? How Scary Are You? Am I the only one sensing a little sarcasm here?

15 Friggen Things About Little Ol' Me.

Yeah, so I'm not so little and I'm not so old. hehehe Either way, I've been TAGGED! Thanks Heather ! Now, I've got to dream up 15 things about me that won't put you to sleep. Unless...Anybody need a non chemical sleep aid?? Anyone? Step right up! Ahem...where was I? Oh yes. 15 things about me. 1.) I am and forever will be a nerd. Have been since the first time a classmate found out that I read for (brace yourself) FUN!! Ack! lol 2.)My nickname in elementary school was Miss Piggy, assigned to me in the 3rd grade by a boy who sucked his thumb up until we were in the 5th grade. No lie. It was a darn good thing he and I were such good friends or I woulda sat on him! 3.) My first kiss resulted in a boy getting paddled at school. He was ugly. I was shy. He kissed me without my consent. Ergo, the teacher cracked his butt with the paddle. hehehe Of course, that could have been what sealed my fate as being "undate-able" throughout high school. :-/ 4.) I am the you...

Losing My Mind and 10 Other Gripes For the Day

I'm losing my friggen mind. *sigh* I can't remember whether or not I turned off my propane space heater before I left for work this morning. I was sitting here at my desk, minding my own business (if you can call bloghopping minding my own business) when all of a sudden a ding went off in my head and suddenly I'm seized with a worry that I forgot to turn off the heater. It's probably not such a big deal if I didn't except that it'll use more of my precious (and wildly expensive) propane than I had planned on using. But it's a relatively safe heater. I don't think (or I pray, at least) it will decide to get homicidal and set my home on fire in my absence. That's IF I even left it on this morning. I probably did turn it off. It's second nature/habit to do so as I'm walking down the hall and out of the door. In fact, I'm almost certain I turned it off. Almost. *sigh* Meanwhile, blogger has gone NUTS!! It just tried to publish this post witho...

What Christmas Song Are You

Image
Oh I'm so incredibly happy with this one. Sometimes I worry that my faith isn't as evident in my life as it should be but I guess it's so second nature that it shows even when I'm not trying. :-) AND this is one of my absolute favorite songs--Christmas or otherwise. One happy chick, right here. Thanks Heather , for this one. You Are "Silent Night" Silent night, holy nightAll is calm, all is brightRound yon Virgin, Mother and ChildHoly infant so tender and mildSleep in heavenly peace You never forget that Christmas is about the birth of Christ.Santa and eggnog are just gravy What Christmas Carol Are You?

General Rantings

What does the "yield" sign mean to you? To me, it means, "Friggen slow down and make sure there isn't any traffic coming before you friggen try to merge into traffic. If there's a car coming, you friggen stop and let them pass before you merge. Thus the word YIELD, people!" Okay, so I'm sure you can guess I've got a little traffic angst going on. I don't like to drive because of other STUPID drivers. Yeah, okay, so I'm not all that smart some of the time either, but I can at least tell the difference between a "yield" sign and a "merge" sign. If there's a merge sign, yeah, I'll pull into the left lane and let you in. It's not only courteous, its the safe and lawful thing to do. Besides, I know how frustrating it is to try and enter traffic and the idiot in the right lane not move over. HOWEVER, if there's a "yield" sign? Chances are bloody good that I WON'T switch to the left lane because, dum...

Christmas and Me

Thanks to April for the inspiration on this one. In her blog this weekend, she talked about the many traditions she and her family have for Christmas and what some of her childhood Christmas traditions were as well. This got me to thinking about my own childhood Christmases and how much it's changed and evolved over the years. So if ya'll don't mind, I'm going to wax poetic about Christmas and me. Besides. My weekend was spent on the couch with the remote listening to rain. I hardly think ya'll want to read about that, right? So Christmas... Christmas was something my parents were always wonderful at. No matter how poor we were or how little we had it was always a fun and special time of the year. From baking cookies, to decorating Christmas trees to everything in between. Up until we were in high school, our family always had live trees. It was a tradition that every year, two weeks before Christmas, Daddy would trek into the woods and chop down a cedar tree and h...

In a Mood

Is there such a thing as "Reading Bipolar?" For the past several months, I was on such a reading high that I was going through three and four books a week. My monthly book budget went from one or two books a month to having to scale down the ten or so that were on my to-buy list for a given month. It didn't hurt that I had just been inundated with hand-me-down books from various friends who were cleaning out their shelves. I was going through them like a chainsmoker goes through a carton of cigarettes. This very blog is littered with titles, rants, raves and reviews of the copious amounts of books I was reading. Now, it's all just blah. I look at a book and go, "Huh. I'll read later." I've still got stacks upon stacks of the hand-me-downs and at least two or three unread books from my last buying binge. But now they all seem sort of meh . Just now, I went browsing through this month's and next month's offerings on eHarlequin, the site that no...

Obsessions

Okay, so I talk about Keith Urban more than a little. Joaquin Phoenix is on my Christmas list and for a number of years, Ty Pennington turned up in more than one conversation. Does this make me obsessive? Well, some might say so but they've never met AF, a woman with whom I am unfortunate enough to work. Hayden Christianson is her obsession. While I'm crooning with Keith Urban on the CMA's, she's online cruising countless websites devoted to him. While I'm waxing poetic about needing to see Walk the Line with Joaquin, she's calling Hayden's faux girlfriend a slut, ho, and other unsavory words that a professed Christian should not be calling another human being. While I'm suffering through another episode of the gagfest tear inducing mess that is Extreme Makeover Home Edition, she is on her knees praying to God that she and Hayden Christianson get married. Seriously. Normally, I avoid this chick like the plague. We don't work in the same department so...
