Saturday Fun Times

Image
So, Emmy's in town this week. And so begins Staycation 2014!!  We kicked off the week yesterday with lunch, a movie and ice cream with the little kids.  Meleficent is really good, in case you're wondering. It's very different from the Disney tale we all grew up on, but in a good way. I love me some tortured and complex villains and Meleficent, as told in this version, is definitely a tortured and complex villain.  Annnnnd if course we had to document the occasion with a group selfi in front of the movie poster.   Funny how we we all squinting into the sun here and by the the time we got to the car, a wall of storm clouds formed and overtook the sun.  And before we got out of the parking lot, the bottom fell out if the sky and dumped a few buckets of rain on us.  We spent about 30 minutes driving or sitting in the McDonald's parking lot trying to decide whether or not Goofus should bring the kids out for ice cream like we'd planned.  Just as we decided...

Birthday Girl

Image
Guess who's eight today! Yes, I baked carrot cake cupcakes just for her. And yes, I let her eat a whole one. on a fancy plant. on my couch. Because I loooooooves her, that's why.  I also sang Happy Birthday to her. :-D I can't believe my baby girl is eight, though. How is she not still this little bitty fuzzy thing?

Things I've Wanted to Say Today but Didn't

I'm done with a capital D with apologizing for not knowing what you didn't tell me. I do NOT appreciate your assumption that I will comply with your request/demand and will not apologize for not jumping on that bandwagon from the get go. Next time ask BEFORE you set something in motion that requires my cooperation or assistance. It is not FAIR to bully me into doing what you want me to do without considering how what you want me to do will affect me. Just because it seems silly to you does not mean it IS silly. It just means that your needs are different from mine. Why in the hell did you ask me to do this if you were just going to undo it as soon as my back was turned? And why in the hell should I redo it now that you've decided to you want it done again? I have not had enough chocolate to deal with you right now. There may not be enough chocolate in the WORLD to deal with you. I need chocolate. How hard is it for you to just ASK me when you can't find some...

Well, I ate a cupcake. Libs was just wishful thinking. ;-)

Permission To Play

Image
The library finally upgraded our office tools to 2013. We had a workshop this morning to go over some of the changes that we might find useful in the new Word, Excel, etc. versions and were then told to go play around with it in case we came across anything we needed help with or had questions about. I don't use Excel except in the most basic way so I really don't know how to play around in it. But I do use Word quite a bit so I've been having fun learning all the new features and junk. And also, I've been enjoying having permission to play for a little while this afternoon. The photo is mine, one that I took a few months ago. The quote, I got from a website of inspirational quotes. I created the text on the photo and border in Word and then used the snipping tool from the window's accessories to lift it from Word and save it as a jPeg. All this to warn you, you may be seeing a lot of these from now on. :-D

Daddy's Day Funnies

Image
1.) Daddy requested a cherry cheesecake for his Father's Day lunch. I kinda sorta figured he meant the no bake boxed kind, but I wanted to do something a little more special. I dug out a recipe I'd been meaning to try, bought the ingredients (and a back-up box of no-bake in case it flopped) and baked a cheesecake from scratch. I texted Daddy a photo of the cheesecake when it came out of the oven. His response was, "Is it any good?" Like I had cut into it and tasted it? I don't know. I told him we'd hafta wait and see. Mama told me this morning that when he got the text and realized it wasn't a from the box no-bake cheesecake he was disappointed because it wouldn't taste like the one Granny (his mama) makes. BUT, after he tasted it yesterday he was surprised that  he actually liked it better! Pahahahahahaha Yes. Shocking, isn't it? How a homemade ANYTHING could be better than a boxed mix? *shaking my head* 2.) A few weeks ago, Lyssa used so...

Weekend In Photos

Image
Birthday supper with the folks. We ate catfish at the local diner and I gave Mama the Frozen DVD. Donut for breakfast Saturday. Deeeeee-lish.   Made a cheesecake for Daddy... And little carrot cupcakes for Mama.  Libby wants to see BoBo NOW.  I hosted Father's Day lunch.

Happy Friday!!

Libs and I had to make a Happy Birthday video for Nana's 61st birthday today. She ended the video with this, except she was smiling. Not sure what this look here, says, except, "Are we done now?" Girl is toooooo  funny. ;-)     I wish I could figure out how to post the video here but other than putting it on YouTube (which I don't want to do) I'm not sure how to do it. :-/ Girl loves her Nana, though. We texted the video to her first thing this morning and I'm pretty sure it made her whole entire day. haha   In other news: Have a GREAT weekend, ya'll! I'll be kicking mine off with a trip to the local diner for fried catfish with the parental unit for the birthday girl.

Life Report

Image
Or maybe I shoulda called this post "life support?" Because my life is being held together by duct tape and cookies? Just back after a six day (48 hour) work week. Yes. Six full 8hr days in a row. I know in the "real" world, there's nothing exceptional about this. There are industries and such that work 60-80hr work weeks. But I am spoiled and I don't like this six day work week thing. Plus, I haven't been sleeping all that well lately for worrying about the stupid event that had me working that extra 8hrs so color me crabby right now. We restarted our annual Genealogy Fair this weekend and it was a booger. No, it turned out great, but the prep and junk for the thing? A booger. We're all walking around like zombies today, lest you think it's just me being held together with duct tape. I'm not sure if anyone else patched up their feelings with cookies yesterday, so I can't speak for what else is holding them together. But I used cookie...
