CAUTION: Woman In Progress

So I know in yesterday's Christmas rundown post I mentioned that Sis1 and Emmy (and BIL, if you wanna get technical) got a new dog. She's an eight-year-old Western Highland Terrier named Maddie. She's a bit of a sassy pants and looks almost exactly like the dog on the Cesar's dog food commercial. Maddie had a loving home with a young couple for eight years and then they  had a baby who has some upper respiratory problems and it was determined that sassy pants Maddie may have been contributing to the severity of the child's problems. Fortunately for Maddie and the people who love her dearly, Maddie was already familiar with--and loved by--my sister and Emmy. They had been dog sitters for Maddie on several occasions and when Maddie's original family came to the conclusion that they couldn't keep her and keep their kid healthy, they thought of Sis1's family. I'd been planning my annual summer staycation for a while, intending to take off June 25-Jul 3. My A/C unit had other plans. It quit working on the 22nd so I was off on the 24th getting that fixed to the tune of a hundred and twenty smack-a-roos. Sooooo, not what I wanted to spend my monies on but what can you do? You own a house, you put out the big bucks every now and then. So that taken care of, I spent most of Thursday holding down the couch and keeping the back of my eyelids rested. I haven't felt good in a really long time. Between a long bout of depression, a disaster of a foot ailment (plantar faci-whatever-it-is) and the stress at work, I have been exhausted in every way imaginable. So yes. Thursday, my first official day of stay-cation, I was a complete slug. No apologies. Friday was a big day. In my life, at least. My fluffy baby turned NINE. I usually do make her some carrot cake cupcakes but I DON'T usually throw her a full on party. This year, though,...

I got him a camo steering wheel cover to trick out his new-to-him truck...and also match the floor mats he bought. I think I was more excited about it than he was. Do you know how hard it is to shop for an almost 61-year-old man who pretty much has all the little stuff he wants and nobody can afford all the big things he likes? lol So Fadda's Dae (I can't help it.) was good. The food all turned out just as yummy as I hoped it would. So yummy, in fact, that we all pretty much ate ourselves under the tab...

And it isn't me! Haha Her actual birthday isn't until the 26th but she's got other plans that weekend. So she came home THIS weekend to celebrate with the usual suspects.  Fun ensued. ;-)
