Ethan Vader

My baby boy is six! What the what? His actual birthday was Tuesday but we celebrated his birthday this past Saturday in a Darth Vader/Star Wars party. Yes. My sister is raising a Star Wars geek. haha He started out innocently enough with Star Wars Rebels but by now he's seen the three original films and LOVES them. His favorite character is, of course, Darth Vader. He is all about some dark sides. Can't decide if we need to be worried or not. ;-) So their swing set is mostly toast by now. the monkey bar part is the only part still hanging on. Lyssa has decided that it's a swing. Silly girl. Their other grandmother gave them a basketball goal as an early Christmas present and Goofus set it up so that the kids could enjoy it during the party. Alyssa claims she made 42 shots throughout the day. Pretty sure he's contemplating steeling one of the marshmallow pops. We called these "Angry Snowmen" and Nana got her feelings hurt. D'oh! Na...

Signs of Life

Do I look depressed here? If so, it's because I was/am. That stack never seems to ever fully go away no matter how many times I get rid of it. And you should see the area behind me. Two book trucks full and a buncha boxes. ::SadFace::     Last Friday we had to meet up with Sis2 and Lyssa to pick up the gift Sis2 had graciously picked up for me for Ethan's birthday. She came across a Darth Vader scooter that she knew he'd want and since there were only three left, I asked her to get one for me to get him so we met to exchange gift for money. Lyssa, of course, came with her and that girl was really feeling her oats that day. She immediately climbed in Nana's car and claimed it as hers, claimed my purse as her pretty new purse and Nana's phone as hers. Below, she is threatening to drive off in Nana's car. haha   Don't let that giant grin fool you. She'd totally do it if she thought she could get away with it. lol     Saturday afternoo...

Bits and Pieces: A Rambling Post of Nothing Important

I've been home sick for the past couple of days. Apparently my stomach has decided that it will no longer accept or keep "church food." And by church food, I mean, the after church pot lucks that occur occasionally. I sang at the Homecoming service for the church my parents attend--the church connected to the cemetery where Paw-paw Joe is buried and after the service was a church potluck. I ate what appeared to me to be a reasonable amount. I didn't gorge or overstuff myself. I wouldn't even say I was pleasantly full by the end of it. Just, you know, I ate a couple scoops of some dressing and some ham and a slice of pie. Oh, and a deviled egg. And it was yummy and I went home and sat in my newly cleaned up and moved swing until I started to feel sick. The past couple times I've eaten at a church pot luck it gave me wicked heartburn/indigestion. This time it rebelled completely and I was SICK. And that's all you really need to know about that. But while...

I've been doing some on-line Christmas shopping the past few days and my budget and credit card are totally singing this song to me. Oy!

A Real Scorcher, Part 2

So you may be wondering about the title of this and the previous post. Or you may not. Probably, maybe you didn't even notice. But if you HAD noticed, you might be wondering it about it. And, well, I'll tell you. It has to do with this: We had our annual bonfire Saturday for Sis2's birthday except our parents have gotten all fancy smancy on us and now have a fire pit. Personally, I miss the old fashioned bonfire in the front yard, but Daddy says this is easier to clean up and is safer, as well. At any rate, Saturday turned out to be even cooler and more fall-like than the day before and it. was. mah-valous! We spent half the day outside on the front porch talking and reading and watching the kids play just because we could. We're all so sick of summer and heat. It was cool enough that we all ended up in jackets but didn't want to go back inside. Well, except for Mama and Goofus. Mama stayed in the kitchen most of the day baking the cake and putting togeth...

A Real Scorcher

So, Sis2 is officially a year older. She's officially pushing 40 really hard. (She's 38.) And how weird is it that my sisters and I are creeping on over towards "middle age"? I mean, other than the craptastic body I'm stuck in, I still feel like I'm 16. Maturity-wise, anyway.  Sis2 and I were talking about that the other day. How we still feel young but our bodies are like, "Nope." We've put some hard miles on these earthly shells of ours and thus, we walk and move like 90-year-olds. Seriously, though. My 80-something-year old Granny JUST RECENTLY started have knee problems that have slowed her down. I've had knee problems since I was 30. I haven't been able to get up out of the floor like a normal adult in six years. I have to roll over and get up like a toddler. A big 200-something pound toddler. I'll just be over here sucking my thumb. *sigh* Anyway, yeah. Sis2 had a birthday Friday. Naturally, I took off work to spend the day ...
