Drivel Part Two

My thoughts on the work dinner I survived tonight as expressed on Twitter.

Drivel

Trying out the whole "shades over my glasses" thing.  And yes, duck face is necessary when modeling shades.  $10 (regular $36) Oscar Delarenta shades from Tuesday Morning.  I'm so fancy. Ha They look kinda silly on top of my head with my glasses on my face but I think they might work out. It's brutal outside without shades and I refuse to get transitions lenses or contacts. I know a few people who wear shades over their glasses so when these fit perfectly, thought I'd give it a try.  Goofy? Maybe. But I never claimed to be anything else.  ;-)

Not much else makes me happy these days. But this girl does.

Staycation Highlights, Pt. 3: Independence Day

Image
The most perfect cookie. So I got up early that morning and decided, hey, why not bake some sugar cookies for the kiddos? Because, you know, I did all my other cooking the day before to free up the morning so I had nothing better to do, right? And of course, as it usually  happens, decoration inspiration didn't strike until the very last cookie which is what you see above. It was the prettiest cookie and I almost hated for it to get eaten. Probably couldn't make it happen again if my life depended on it, though. Story of my life. As usual, we all assembled at Granny's house for the 4th. Is it weird that it's July 23 and I'm just now talking about the 4th? *shrugs* Sis1 was taking a selfie of us so I took a selfie of us taking a selfie. haha Yes. We're weird. Don't hate. Efan enjoyed marching around the sidewalk saying the pledge of allegiance. Later on, he got REALLY silly and started mooning  us. But I figure that photo wouldn't b...

Hay!

It's hay baling time down south. Probably elsewhere, too. I love the way all these big round bales dot the side of the road.  This particular spot is at the base of some sloping hills. If there isn't a lot of traffic this afternoon, I'm going to actually stop and see if I can get some good hillside shots. Wish me luck! ;-)

Staycation Highlights Pt. Two: Daddy's Birthday

Image
Soooooo, I fell down a rabbit hole last week. Actually, see the previous post. I fell into the stacks and worked my tushi to the bone and no real posting was done. No real anything, other than moving books from here to there and occasionally back again. I'm still not done but my cohorts aka co-workers are both on vacay this week--like actual vacations as in they WENT SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN THEIR HOMES and won't be back till later this week. Which basically leaves me in charge of making sure the student assistants don't burn the place down.   Anyway, I've been meaning to/intending to post the rest of my staycation highlights. At this point I almost wanna be like, "Eh, whatsa point?" but I do occasionally like to wonder through my archives and remind myself of where I've been and fun things I did.   And so...without further ado, Daddy's 61st birthday.   This took place on July 1, mind you. And has it really only been two weeks since my week a...

Warning

If you never hear from me again it's because the stacks have murdered me. #TrueStory

Saturday Funny

So I don't think I ever told you my Naked and Embarrassed story, did I? I probably shouldn't. I should be wise and keep it to myself because that's what mature adult type people do, right? But since I'm not mature... Soooo, this was, like, the Saturday before Fadda's Dae. (Don't ask me why I spell it like that. I don't know why. I just do.) I was in the mad dash cleaning and baking phase and, you know, it gets hot in the house when the oven is on and a girl is running around like a lunatic. Weeeeeeelllll...sometime Saturday afternoon, once all the baking was done, the kitchen cleaned up and all the other cleaning type nonsense finished or abandoned (probably abandoned) I stripped down to my underwear and sprawled out in the recliner to rest and let the ceiling fan do it's magical cooling off thing. And in the nature of full disclosure, about ten minutes into the cooling off period I also stripped off my sports bra. Because boob sweat, ya'll. Do...

What I Really Wanna Say

So on that mixed bag of nuts called Facebook there are often several meme's with some alliteration of a photo/drawing of who one can only assume is supposed to be Jesus with the following sentiment scrawled over it: "Stop scrolling and share if you love Jesus. He died for you and if you deny Him before the world He will deny you." I see some version or another of that at least fifty times a day on my newsfeed. And ya'll know I ain't got nothing against Jesus. He's the only thing that keeps me going, right? But that meme? Drives. Me. Nuts. Because it's like accusing you of not REALLY loving Jesus if you don't share/like every one of those memes that you come across. Because that's how you get the Word out to a lost and dying world, right? By SHAMING people? Ugh. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Jesus die to remove our shame? I'm so tempted to post the following status update but hesitate for fear that all my Jesus loving friends a...

Staycation 2015 Highlights Pt. 1:Home maintenance and Libby's Birthday

Image
I'd been planning my annual summer staycation for a while, intending to take off June 25-Jul 3. My A/C unit had other plans. It quit working on the 22nd so I was off on the 24th getting that fixed to the tune of a hundred and twenty smack-a-roos. Sooooo, not what I wanted to spend my monies on but what can you do? You own a house, you put out the big bucks every now and then. So that taken care of, I spent most of Thursday holding down the couch and keeping the back of my eyelids rested. I haven't felt good in a really long time. Between a long bout of depression, a disaster of a foot ailment (plantar faci-whatever-it-is) and the stress at work, I have been exhausted in every way imaginable. So yes. Thursday, my first official day of stay-cation, I was a complete slug. No apologies. Friday was a big day. In my life, at least. My fluffy baby turned NINE. I usually do make her some carrot cake cupcakes but I DON'T usually throw her a full on party. This year, though,...
