Busted!

Ugh! I hate it when folks sneak up to my cubicle. LOL So happens I was being nosy on somebody's MySpace page (my cousin's friend) and the dude from downstairs who already thinks I'm totally goofy/crazy/weird comes up behind me to ask where to deliver the paper I'd ordered. Of course, me, instead of playing it cool like I don't CARE that I just got caught looking at some guy's MySpace page (and no, not because I was cruisin' for dudes...just curious to figure out which of three guys my cousin is actually dating--or if they're all dating each other. hehehehe) I immediately minimized the page like the dork I am and blushed furiously as I stammered like an IDIOT. *sigh* At least it wasn't my boss that busted me, huh? And maybe that'll teach me to be nosy. Yeah. Probably not. Still not sure which guy my cousin's dating, either. Maybe I'll ask him if he comes home for Christmas. Yeah. Probably not.

Not Much To Add

I have nothing going on today. Nada. Except the stupid, annoying, mind numbing roar of the roofers outside our buidling. Argh! Anyone else get frustrated when they google an old crush and can't come up with ANYTHING on them? That's just me? Oh. LOL No, I'm not turning stalker, it's just this one guy I had a thing for several years ago. He was my hero, of sorts. Slayed a dragon or two for me. (anyone who was conversatin' with me on Drifters or the Ringless thread on eHqn about six years ago might remember me mooning over him.) I came across a mutal friend's Facebook page yesterday and it made me think of him. I did find his Facebook page but some folks don't put ANYTHING of a personal nature on their pages. So. Frustrating to us stalker chicks. hehehehe Anyway, yeah, he was this really great hero type guy who I actually wasn't supposed to fraternize with because he was a student worker and I was his immediate supervisor. Keep in mind, that six years ago I...

So yeah. The weekend.

I took off early Friday afternoon to hang with Sis2. Lyssa's first birthday is coming up in August so we went to scope out a place to have her party. But first, we went to eat lunch. Do ya'll know how long it's been since she and I had lunch together without her dh? A loooong time. That's how long. It was so cool to be able to sit and talk. Confide in each other. I went with her to pick Lyssa up from daycare, too, and that little stinker just totally made my day. LOL When we walked in, she was sitting in the high chair drinking her juice. Now, this is a kid who LOVES her juice. Will sacrifice a last hug from her mommy for her juice. Soon as she saw me standing behind her mommy, she threw her juice down and grinned the biggest little monkey grin. Sis2 picked her up and she immediately reached for me. She "talked" and giggled at me the whole time Sis2 was talking to her teachers. And when we went to leave she barely let go of me long enough to hug her teachers ...

I Am What I Listen To

You Are Country Music You are friendly, down to earth, and fairly conservative. You are true to your friends and your upbringing. Change is hard for you. But beneath your old fashioned attitude, you are expressive and artistic in your own way. Very few people can express pain and pleasure as eloquently as you can. What Kind of Music Are You? Imagine that...hehehehe

My Life's Not So Bad...

Even if my apartment DOES apparently hate me. *sigh* (new leak in the a/c unit.) I finally called my bff Saturday. I should have called her ages ago. It'd been a couple or three months since we'd talked and she'd left me a voicemail two weeks ago. I just hadn't gotten around to calling her back. But that's the nature of our friendship. Has been forever. We talk when we can and when we can't we don't sweat it. She's got a busy life with work and her family and my life is...well, ya'll know how I am. LOL I really wish now that I'd called her back right after I got her voicemail. Her birthday was Friday, though, so I thought I'd just wait and call her then. You know, because I'm not much of a phone lover, two calls in close time range might kill me. lol I ended up calling her Saturday, though, because I'm a spaz and forgot to call Friday. Boy, the things that have happened in two or three months! Her beloved puppy that she got in March c...

Don't just sit there...READ! (and review)

I've been lax in promoting this and I really shouldn't have. I don't know, this year I've gone a little off center. We've all been there. Maybe you'll forgive me. But, I feel the need (since the years half over) to really push for folks to join the eHarlequin.com 100,000 Book Challenge. Whether you're a fan of eHarlequin or not, it's for a great cause, it doesn't take much time and it's an easy way to give back and do something you love at the same time. All you gotta do is read and then "talk" about it! Once again, eHarlequin.com challenges you to new reading heights. IF we can read 100,000 books in total, we can beat our 2007 record and read a mind-boggling, and unprecedented 100,000 books! But the great news this year is that for every book we read, we'll be donating a book to the National Center for Family Literacy to benefit their literacy programs. The stated mission of the NCFL is to create a literate nation by leveraging th...

Explain, please...

I don't use a Laundromat so I'm not up on the lingo. Explain what that last line means. Cause yeah. I'm stumped. Amused, but stumped. And in case you didn't believe me, here's what my back-yard looked like last Saturday. It's only marginally better looking now. *sigh*

Conversations with the Devil Pup

Image
Me: Don't step on my boobs, Libs. Devil Pup: Why not Mama? Me: Cause it hurts, Libs. Devil Pup: Srsly? Me: Yeah. Devil Pup: Huh. Devil Pup: Your face is filthy, Mama. Devil Pup: No worry. I clean it. Me: Thanks, Libs. I think it's clean now. Libs: I say when clean, Mama. Me: You're right. You're the boss. Remind me. Who buys the dogfood again? Devil Pup: Meanie.

Thank You, Dolly!

Okay, so Dolly is technically not good news for Texas or Mexico but for Jana who was formerly roasting in the miserable summer heat? Bliss. Not only wasn't it blistering hot yesterday, there was a breeze. An actual breeze. Ahhhh... We even got a smattering of rain. Not much, but a smattering is better than nothing, I dare say. Now we'll just have to hope that Dolly is kind to Texas and Mexico and maybe sends some cooler temps our way for a little while longer.

I'm Wasting My Life and/or Opportunities

Or so said a patron to me earlier today. Or, at least I'm assuming that was what he implied when he asked me why I didn't pursue my college degree while I was "just sitting here." (I was reading newspapers for vertical files items at the reference desk at the time.) When I informed him politely that I do, indeed, already have my college degree, he said, "Well, why not get your master's degree?" The question of the ages, I dare say. He went on to inform me of the fact that the university does offer two free courses per semester. When I said nothing (I already knew this) and merely smiled he just went, "Huh. Well, then, thanks for your help [with the book]." And then he left. He is, apparently, a professor here on campus. A rather attractive (and nice smelling one) at that. I'm sure it escapes his well educated mind why a person with such an opportunity wouldn't pursue a higher education. It's simple, people (though I didn't dee...

I hate Summer.

I'm so entirely ready for this vile nastiness that is summer to be OVER. I'm sick of sweating. Sick of miserable mosquitoes. Sick of humidity that makes my skin clammy and my hair frizzy and all my clothes stick to me. Sick, sick, sick of it all. I want FALL. I'm a rare bird who actually loves winter. I love being able to snuggle down with a blanket in my flannel pj's and drink hot chocolate. I don't mind being cold. Well, maybe not COLD cold, but you know. Chilly. The only things I dislike about winter is having to wear shoes instead of flip-flops and the occasional ice storm. Granted, living in the south I don't have to worry about bothersome snowstorms or blizzards. I'd hate that. Summer, though, is a misery to me. I can't stand to be hot. Can't stand sweating like a pig. I mean, at least in winter you can pile on the clothes to get warm. In summer, there's only so much you can take off before you get arrested. lol *sigh* Yeah, it was 99 degr...

Waterlogged with a Beeping Phone

*sigh* Apparently water hates me. As in Hates. Moi. Not only isn't the leaky roof fixed, the leaky pipe in the backyard isn't either. I spent an hour outside last night hashing the leaky pipe thing over with my neighbor who (thank God) is not afraid of confrontation. She'd called everyone she knew to call to get someone...ANYONE out there to fix the problem. Because what started out as a bunch of water in our share backyard is now a full on SWAMP complete with noisy frogs and mosquito's out the wazoo. Her next step was calling the mayor. (City water said it wasn't their problem. Landlord said he'd fixed the problem so any new leaks were City Water's problem. The property owner of the duplex that backs up to ours said whoever the hell's problem it is BETTER get it fixed. Or else. Or so says the lovely letter they left on my door yesterday.) Fortunately got an email from the Landlord today that says a guy from City Water is coming out to fix it today. It w...

Fickle? Me?

You know the whole lonely, wanting to get married/have a boyfriend thing I whined about not so long ago? Does it make me fickle or finicky or too picky that half the available men I know/meet I pray they aren't interested in me? No seriously. I do. I'm hoping it just means that I know what I want and don't want to have to deal with what I DON'T want. It probably means I'm high maintenance. Or worse--a snob! In the meantime, I've been thinking all day of something I could do to treat myself since I've had some little financial blessings lately (Mr. Mastercard and Ms. Visa BOTH lowered my APR! And I got a "raise", albeit a tiny one.) I browsed the web looking at jewelry. I don't actually own any actual diamonds, you know. Perused the JC Penny site for new bedding. Thought briefly of going to the grocery store and buying a fancy cheesecake to eat all by myself. In the end I decided on a Reese's Nutrageous bar (I didn't know they still made...

GHI=So not as cool at TAPS

I hate mid-season on SciFi. It's that dreary time of the year when they think it's funny to give my beloved Ghost Hunters a hiatus and instead fill their spot with Ghost Hunters International . In other words...a poor man's Ghost Hunters . Although, this time they've somehow managed to lure one of my favorite TAPS team members, Dustin ("How could he dessert TAPS?," she cries even as she drools when Barry appears on screen.) into their less cool web of ghosty hunting. Somehow he's managed to bring a little more cred to the otherwise "spooked by their own shadow" crew. They actually, wonder of wonders, relied more heavily on actual scientific evidence than Donna's "OMG something just brushed against my shoulder". Yeah, it's called a moth, chick. They do that. Apparently in every freaking place this chick's ever been. She wasn't that bad this past Wednesday night, though. In fact, they were all better than the last "s...

Show the Love

Just got back from and appreciation luncheon. Apparently, our dean loves us. Awe. Food was good, though. Got to kill an hour and a half with some friends so that was cool. Now I have terrible indigestion from eating the broccoli slaw but it was so gooood it was worth it. Well, ask me in about an hour when I'm wishing could throw up. TMI? hehehehe I'm 'bout to blow this pop stand in about thirty minutes or so. I'm looking forward to it. I still don't feel 100% anyway with this yucky cough but that's not why I'm leaving. No, Pa-paw decided he wants to treat us to supper tonight for Granny's 75th birthday. He wants to leave from his house at 4. That means, in order to get my crap together and get out there in time, I've got to leave here early. Not that it's an imposition. I don't mind taking off a little early. ;-) He's taking us to this seafood place an hour away from my folk's house. It's good food but EXPENSIVE. Which is why I o...

My Prides and Joys

Image
My baby, the Devil Pup. She loves the chair in my room...prolly 'cause of all the clothes littering it. lol Little Miss Emmy. I don't quite know what she was doing here but at least she was having fun. Little Sweet Angle Lyssa. She's growing so fast. She'll be a year old next month. Can ya'll believe it??? My two little blessings together. If Libby had been in there, it'd have been the perfect shot. ;)

I'm a little fuzzy brained, today.

Head banging on desk

Some days it just does not pay to get up in the mornings. We have this student worker. I'll call him Doh!, as in Homer Simpson's favorite phrase because the boy is just one big Doh!. Case in point, just now I was on the phone with my mother checking on Sis2 and Lyssa who were both sick last night. Doh! comes around the corner to my desk and asks for a calculator. I'm on the phone and since I can't imagine anything other than personal use as to why he'd need a calculator, I refuse to interrupt my conversation to dig through my bag to find my personal calculator. So I wave him toward my adding machine hoping it would intimidate him enough to make him go away. (I'm mean, but dangit, he's stepped on enough of my nerves lately that I've about had it with the boy.) Doh! wanders over to the adding machine and stares at it. I'm trying to pay attention to my mother who is still talking about my sister when I look over. The boy has unplugged the machine from t...

It's Official...

My favorite hottie is now a daddy. Keith Urban...longstanding center of many daydreams and fantasies is a daddy. Color him even sexier. lol Weekend was good. Had a fun fourth with the family. All but one of my cousins showed which I'm choosing to see as a good thing. LOL I love 'em but they're LOUD. Had a bit of excitement when a limb fell on the roof of the den. One of my cousin's had to climb up and drag it off for my g-parents. It was funny in the sense that all of us had been sitting in the den when it crashed onto the roof and we all ran enmass outside to see what the boom was all about. My first thought was that my cousin's boys had gotten into something they weren't supposed to. We were all surprised when it turned out to just be a limb. lol Got home Friday night and was greeted by my neighbor's sister on the front porch inviting Sis1 and I to come watch the fireworks they were going to be shooting later. I lied and said we would while I secretly beg...

Heather Is EVIL

LOL Poor Heather. But she really is. In her comment about yesterday's post, she asked me had I read Jill Shalvis's blog? I, of course, had not, but I'm always on the lookout for fun blogs to read so I, of course, go in search of it. (Thanks for the link you have on your blog, Trix!) It's freaking hillarious! I've been reading it for two hours straight and that is NOT good because I'm supposed to be, ya know, earning my paycheck? I'm SO totally going to go and find me some Shalvis novels even though I don't really don't read Blazes anymore. But dang, if her novels are as fantastic as her blog, they've got to be amazing. lol

Whew!

Image
I quit reading Blazes ages ago but dayum ...I might have to buy this one just for the cover. Somebody quick! Douse me with water 'for I go up in flames. hehehehehehe

Waterlogged

Oy vey and a half. Long weekends are supposed to be fun, right? Or maybe utter exhaustion is a sign of a lot of fun had? Hmmm… I think I just had one too many late nights in a row. As a gal who’s usually tucked in and snoring by 10pm, three late nights will just about kill me. lol Friday night was the only night I got to bed at my usual time. Actually, I think I did stay up a little late Friday night. I babysat Lyssa for an hour or so but didn’t get home until after 9. Of course, I had to stay up and play with the dp for a bit so she wouldn’t feel as thought she’d been locked up forEVER. Lyssa was good, though. She slept most of the time I was there. She’d started to get fussy so I turned GAC on (country music video channel) and Taylor Swift sang her to sleep. lol I hadn’t intended on getting her to sleep, though. I thought it was too early but Sis2 assured me that it was fine. She’s such a sweet sleeper, too. I know that sounds silly, but there’s not much else as sweet as a baby slee...
