Around Town

Image
I really hadn't planned on leaving the house today. I covet these days at home my myself so much. But then Mama texted me. Emmy wanted to go to town and sometime during the conversation, I found myself offering to tag along. I'm totes cray, apparently. Haha We just went to the tiny town on my county, since it's only twenty minutes away and Mama's been sick with a sinus infection and still isn't 100%.  We had fun downtown, showing Emmy around.  We walked through the park and just basically enjoyed the fresh air. It was cold this morning but as the morning progressed it warmed to a nice 45 degrees. Perfect touring temps.  After our tour and play, we went to the new chicken place in town and I faceplanted into a basket of sweet and spicy wings. Deeee-lish. Wish I'd taken a picture of them. They were awesome. But I do love me some wings.  We ended our day out with a stop to Wal-mart, of course. Ems needed some cr...

Post Christmas Play Time

Image
So after the crazy if yesterday, Libs and I stayed home and played lazy. I read the mystery a certain friend gave me for Christmas...I enjoyed it, btw, Trix. ;-) Libs napped most if the day. We just had a brief moment when she decided to play with the abominable snowman I gave her for Christmas. Of course she gave up when I stopped picking it up for her.  I'm a terrible mother like that. Ha

Merry Christmas

Image
We had a really great Christmas Day. I started the day with a long and fervent prayer of thanksgiving and prayer for a joyful day. He totally delivered.  We only had one near meltdown when Sis1 and Emmy had a tussle over a Kindle that BIL wrapped and told them to fight it out. It's kind of a long story as to why he did it that way and this tiny iPhone keyboard is too tiresome to get into it. But anyway, Sis1 won and Emmy nearly cried and then there was almost an argument.  But other than that, it was a good morning of gifts, family breakfast and fun.  Sis2's family came later on and we had gifts again. The littles wracked up. It was chaos but in a happy way.  We headed up to Granny's around noon for the big family meal. I didn't think I ate that much but I was (and am still) pretty miserable. But it was a good visit and the kids had fun.  Then we all headed back to the folk's house for a little Christmas winddown. By that point, the kids were starting to fade. E...

Baking Day

Image
So today was "baking day" with Sis2 and the kiddos. The term "baking day" is pretty loose. Sis2 actually baked one thing. The rest if it was mostly candy making.  Chocolate peanut cluster and turtles. Peanut butter fudge. Haystacks. Sis2 baked chess squares.  But of course there was a lot of playing.  Playing was the best part. Crazy kids.  My kid was pretty worn out. Ha

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

Usually this is the time of year where I sign off for two weeks and bid ya'll a happy Christmas, see ya next year, yada yada. Except for one year where I scheduled a few posts for those nine days of break. This year, however, I have the option of posting while I'm at home, thanks to the handy dandy iPhone and the Blogger app. ;-) I can't promise a post every day but I will at least TRY to keep ya'll up with how my vacay's going. You know, so you won't have to deal with a lengthy "What I Did During Christmas Vacation" essay. Although I know ya'll will miss that. haha Anyway, today is the last day of work for NINE days. Well, nine work days. Thirteen days, counting weekends. But whatevs. Almost a full two weeks. We come back on a Friday. Can ya'll believe that mess? *shakes head* I actually don't mind coming back on a Friday though. Sorta helps me ease into the whole back-to-work bidness. Nothing worse than coming back on a Monday and ...

Things and Stuff: Christmas Edition

Hard to believe that Christmas is upon us. I don't feel like I've had much time to really enjoy the season. With all the party plans taking over everyone's life for the past couple of months, it just feels like Christmas got lost and now here it is, coming up next week! Fortunately, I got all my shopping done early this year. This was one of those "buy everything on-line" years wherein I ordered nearly everyone's gift from Amazon and called it a day. haha The only gifts I bought from an actual brick and mortar store were Daddy's, Emmy's and BFF's. Daddy's because it was cheaper at the store, Emmy's because it was crafts stuff I wanted to see with my own eyeballs and BFF's because it's mostly just a small little Christmas "happy" instead of an elaborate gift. To be quite honest, it's been soooooo long since she and I have spent any quality time together that I don't really know her as well as I used to. We hardl...

Weekend Review: The I'm So Worn Out I Might Die Edition

Image
So. This weekend nearly killed me. I mean, it was mostly fun but exhausting, too. And painful. I took off Friday to help get the fellowship hall decorated and set up. Had to go shopping first, though, to get not just my groceries but ingredients for the things I needed to make for the party, as well. And of course, Friday was Friday 13th. *sigh* Nothing bad happened. Just a series of weird/stupid things. Started off with me intending on texting Mama at 6:30 am to get her grocery list and instead I texted my friend E for the grocery list. lol I realized it as soon as I hit "send" but there's no cancelling a text message. So I immediately texted her to ignore me and my dumbness. Thankfully she was already up to get her kids off to school and herself to work so I didn't wake her up or anything. She just laughed and teased me a bit. No harm. But then I had to go to Wal-Mart. I don't often have the same kinds of run-ins there that others have. And Friday was...

Sooooo...

I'm off work tomorrow. <--insert happy face here. haha I took off to help with party prep. This is the big golden anniversary party for Mama's parents. My CO aunt flew in today so she's coming over tomorrow to help, too. Not sure how much actual work will get done. ;-) Anyway, this should be an interesting weekend. All the nuts will be falling off the tree. haha one thing's for sure--I'll be glad when it's over. I love my family but I'm so sick of party freak outs. Hopefully this is the last party I hafta concern myself with for a long time.  At any rate, I'm sure I'll have plenty of pics to share. Consider yourselves warned! Bwahahaha

So as usual the DP just isn't into the Christmas card photo junk. See below.  Such a cooperative child. Except not. ;-)

Saturday Christmas Shopping Commute

Image
Mama and I went to Tupelo to do a little Christmas and party shopping. I spent way to much and am completely worn out but we had a ton of fun. And! I'm officially done Christmas shopping!! Unless I think of something else I want to get someone. ha

Zee Tree

It took me three days and a lot of whining (and NyQuil swilling) but I finally got it done. I love that it's a mix of sentimental homemade and store bought pretties. Some were gifts and some were just found items I strung up and hung on the tree. Emmy made the angel above several years ago when she was still a wee child instead of a long legged gorgeous freak. haha It's made from a Coke can and it makes me think of that little giggle faced kid every time I look at it. It always goes toward the top of my tree in a place of honor. She gets a kick out of the fact that I love the danged thing so much. Bet ya'll didn't know that Taz and I have had a twenty year love affair. 'Tis true. He's mah main squeeze. Granny made the above Santa out of a light bulb. She made several of these as well as snow "ladies" back a few years ago. I don't have any of the snow ladies but I have two of these Santas. :) I also have a few crocheted santas, d...
