Crap Hurts

Image
Don't know if you can really tell what you're looking at (other than a fish...) but if you look near the fish's belly fin you might notice a hook hanging out of the little area just above the belly fin. This, my friends, is a fish who swallowed a hook and tried to crap it out. Yeah. A pleasant notion, right? (And FYI: This is a Bass my dad caught back in June...not the 10lb Catfish I caught Labor Day Weekend. That is NOT his hook but one left there by a previous fisher person. Think how long he's likely had that hook hung up in his crapper. hehehe) Looking at this picture really got me to thinking. You know, we take a lot of chances in our lives. Reaching and grabbing hold of things that we think we want. Things we believe are neccessary to live. We tear into opportunities truly believing that it's something that we need. How many times, though, have you felt like this fish? You got what you think you wanted only to end up in a really painful situation. (i.e. crappi...

I Think I'm Going Nuts

My skin doesn't seem to suit me anymore. It feels too tight. Too restricting. The very air around me seems to be too thick to breathe. And each day I wake up with this...lethargy. I don't know how else to explain it. I don't know if it's PMS, the change of the seasons, or merely a big heaping dose of stress that's getting to me. But I just feel strange and out of sorts. Off kilter, if you will. I don't mean to frighten with this. I don't think it's anything to worry about. It just--is. It is what it is. The sisters are both coming to town this weekend and I'm finding it difficult to work up any enthusiasm for the visit. For one thing, Sis1 is going to stay with me Friday night. And while I truly don't mind it, I somewhat dread it. The addition of one more soul to look after. One more body to maneuver around. One more person to try and be normal with. I'm also a little stressed at the prospect of continuing my housetraining efforts with Libby ...

I Want My Quiet Back, Darnit!

You know I said my peaceful neighborhood wasn't so peaceful anymore? Turns out, muscial instraments are the least of my problems. *sigh* The little lakeside lot so recently vacated has been taken over by a family with no respect for quiet living at the lake. Grrrr... I don't know if they've bought the place or are some of the old lady's kids who volunteered to clean the lot up for her or what, but by darn they need to learn some respect for peaceful living. First of all, they drive in every night after 5p.m. with their loud trucks, tool around with their loud ATV and crank up their loud grass cutting equipment. PLUS, they bring their kids out there and the kids proceed to run screaming up and down the road, stand at the end of my driveway and stare at me when I'm outside with Libby and when they aren't doing that I can hear them bickering back and forth. "You did too, do that." "No, I didn't." "Yes you did. I saw you that time. Mom ...

Never Mock God

My mother sent this around on email and I thought it was too shiver worthy not to share here. NEVER MOCK GOD! Make a personal reflection about this. Very interesting, read until the end... It is written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7): "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Here are some men and women who mocked God: JOHN LENNON: Some years before, during his interview with an American Magazine, he said, "Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not have to argue about that. I am certain. Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple. Today we are more famous than Him" (1966). Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times. TANCREDO NEVES (President of Brazil): During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 votes from his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency. Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he di...

It's Monday Already?

The weekends seem to get shorter and shorter. *sigh* This one was actually pretty good, though. I got up early Saturday morning and treated myself to breakfast at MickyD's. Yeah, I know. Big deal. It was to me, though. Considering that I haven't eaten out for breakfast in a long while AND I was totally craving a sausage biscuit. So that's what a had. A sausage biscuit, a hashbrown and a coffee. I have to say though. You know all that fuss MickyD's has been making on how wonderful their new premium coffee is? Well, it still tastes like coffee. Period. ;-) While I know I shouldn't have, I did feel a little weird sitting there by myself. I wasn't the only one there alone and it wasn't the first time I'VE eaten there by myself but it still felt weird. I don't know why. Of course, lately, I've felt weird no matter who I'm with. Sort of like my brain and my body are slightly disconnected with each other. Yeah. I'm an oddball. *sigh* After break...

Wussy Dog

Libby, now also known as the wussy dog, is afraid of the dark. Yep. The dark. A dog. Afraid of the dark. Seriously, for the past several nights, whenever I take her outside after dark, she goes just to the edge of the yard, sniffs, whimpers and then runs (tail tucked firmly between her legs) crying back to the porch and just sits there under the porch light staring at me as though I'm insane evil mommy for dragging her out into the darkness. *sigh* Can't say as I blame her much. It's dark as pitch out there and there are some really creepy sounds coming from the woods sometimes. I'm not all that fond of standing out there with a lone flashlight and the only other source of light the porch light which barely extends off the porch. If he ever comes to get me, I at least hope the boogyman is cute. hehehehe

So Much For Quiet Living At The Lake

Apparently the cooler weather has brought the happy happy joy joy out of one of my neighbors. Ugh! The cabin diagonally across the road from my house has been hiding some seriously funky musical stylings all summer. I took Libby outside after supper (in hopes she poop OUTSIDE) and what did my ears hear? Some seriously funky keyboard playing. A lone woman sat out on the back deck and played her heart out. She even ran off her roomates. They left lickety split not long after the music started. And this went on until sundown. Thank God they're far enough away I could only be bothered by it while I was outside and not inside. Unlike the dude who USED to live there. He had drums. The whole lake community knew when he was practicing. But hey, I'll take drums and keyboards any day over what my pal, Heather, said she heard from her upstairs neighbors last night. Well, unless I was just into that kind of auditory voyeurism. hehehehehe In other neighborly news, the double wide directly a...

A Million Ten

I had a million and ten things I was going to blog about today. By the time I got to Blogger, though, they'd gone Poof! Right out my head. Funny, that. Not really. So what's new in the land of Jana? Well...My niece is being tested Friday to see if she has a learning disorder. My sister is freaking out. She's just positive that Emmy is dyslexic all because she's having some problems with her spelling tests. She's six. She's in the first grade. She comes from a long line of terrible spellers including yours truly. I flunked plenty of spelling tests in my day and I graduated high school third in my class and completed my B.A. with a 3.2something GPA. She's just a bad speller. Get over it. Besides, it's still early days of the school year. All this test stuff is new to her and I'm sure, knowing her mother the way that I do, she's got a lot of test anxiety going on. Sis1 puts a lot of pressure on her. However, if she DOES actually have a learning dis...

Puppy Brag Tuesday

Since dumb Blogger is screwing up again, if you wanna see some "baby" picks, go to my Yahoo 360 page and click on the "Puppy Love album. I've made it public so go and enjoy and know that had dumb Blogger not been spazzing out, you could've had my colorful commentary to accompany them. ;-)

Stick A Fork In Me, I’m Done

You’d think a three day weekend would mean lots of rest and relaxation, right? Wrong. Who know being mommy to puppy was so exhausting? I stayed home Friday supposedly for a mental health day but turns out I’m crazier now than I was before. LOL Libby is definitely not good for sanity. I had to take her to the veterinarian, though, for her puppy shots. I actually should have done that a couple of weeks ago, apparently, but I was going by something that I read on the internet that apparently is wrong. So. Don’t believe everything you read on the internet. She did really well, though, at the vet. She wasn’t all that eager to go inside which makes me wonder if animals don’t have some sort of sixth sense about vet clinics. She’d never been before so how could she know she didn’t want to go? LOL I had to pick her up and carry her inside. Once inside she took right to the technician, letting her clip her nails (thank God), weigh her (4.25 lbs) and check her teeth (all healthy). She did not lik...

Uh...

My brain is FRIED. Totally FRIED. That's what happens when you do your job, right? Cuz that's about all I've been doing lately. Working on special projects for work. One thing I've learned over the past couple of days is, I suck at making small talk. *sigh* One of the bigger projects I worked on was with a graduate student from another department who came over to help us with some items that we were having a hard time processing because we've never done anything like it before. So I got assigned to work with this fella. He tried his BEST to engage me in conversation while we worked and I was at a total loss. I'd answer his questions (How's your day been? Hectic. Do you like this job? Somedays. Are you a graduate student? No.) and then that's it. No follow up, no cute anecdote or any questions of my own. Basically I just nodded, smiled and focused on work. Doh! You know, I realize that's probably why I never get asked out. It isn't because I'm...

Kindness of Strangers

Or, "Dog Of a Weekend." Friday afternoon I got reminded that chivalry, no matter how much the world would have us believe otherwise, isn't dead. You know I carpool with my mom, right? Well, she'd dropped me off at the door Friday morning because we were running really late and my boss is a lot more noticing of these things than hers. She'd had her lights on and I remember thinking when she picked me up that I hoped she didn't forget to turn them off. Wish I'd reminded her of that cuz, yeah. When we got out to the car Friday afternoon it was dead as a doornell. So dead, in fact, that the electronic locks wouldn't work. Good thing the key still worked or we'd have been in an even more serious pickle. Panic set in as there are no male relatives nearby (other than my cousin B who didn't have jumper cables) and we hated the thought of calling a shop to come out and jump us off. Mama goes back into the building to see if there's anyone in the off...

Just For Kicks

Gracious merciful Heavens...*pant* I need a cigarette. And I'm only halfway through. *checks book to see if it's an erotica* It's just a Mira? Good gravy. There oughta be a warning label. DO NOT READ WHILE ON LUNCH BREAK AT WORK. *squirms* Unless there's an available hunky nearby. hehehehehe

Doing Without

I swear. I’ve GOT to stop reading romance novels. I gotta, I gotta, I gotta. It’s just toooooo friggen hard to read all that yummy love stuff and have no yummy love stuff goin’ on with ME. I swear, I still waver on the whole marriage issue minute by minute but you know what? What does it even friggen matter? It’s not like I’ve got men beating my door down with flowers and sparkly objects crying their love for me. I don’t even have men taking second looks at me. Unless it’s cuz they think I’m nuts. It’s friggen depressing. And you know the only time I ever even realize that it bothers me? When I read a particularly good romance. *sigh* Life is so unfair. So I’m reading Just For Kicks by Susan Anderson and Oh. My. Gosh. is the hero yummy. And the hero and heroine together? Totally hot. And they haven’t even had sex yet. That’s how disturbingly hot this book is. And I’m like, “Dude, why ain’t I found my Wolf yet?” Not. Cool. I think it must be like a biological clock thing or something. ...

Pouting

Will's gone. Not my will. THE Will. From Big Brother: Allstars. I suppose it was his time but gosh darnit, now where's the eyecandy sposed to come from, huh? Now I guess stupid Janelle and Erica are going to win. I liked Erica the first time she was on BB back in season...5? I rooted for her and Jack all the way. But this season she's just been...sheezy, I guess. "Sleeping" with Mike Boogie. Smokin' and dressin' like a tart when she doesn't look like an old hag. I don't really have anything against Janelle other than the fact that she's friends with that stupidhead Howie. She's got a bit of the dumb blonde thing going on but deep down she's smart. I don't blame her for falling for Will's charm. I'd have been his total slave. LOL She just seemed to play it smarter last season...other than the Howie friendship thing. How anyone can stomach being friends with such a mean spirited childish butthole like that is beyond me. And i...

I Smell Like Coffee

Or, “The Morning of Everything That Could Go Wrong, Has Gone Wrong.” *sigh* Are we sure it isn’t Monday?? But yeah. Got up this morning. Thought it was Monday and I suppose the day thinks it’s Monday, too. Libby would NOT cooperate. Was late getting dressed for work (had like three minutes!) because Miss Libby of the Not-So-Pottytrained refused to do her business outside and Jana was NOT going to let her get away with doing it in the house. No ma’am. So I was outside (in my nightgown) almost all morning KNOWING that the dog had to do her business but wouldn’t because some DUMB DOG down the road was apparently feelin’ the blues cuz he was baying up a storm. Totally scared poor Libby and I could barely coax her off the porch, let alone get her to do her business. So I had FOUR MINUTES to get dressed this morning. No make-up. Barely got my teeth brushed. Cracked my head on the counter when I put Libby in her crate. Then on the way to work I spilled coffee on my pants. Hence the smelling l...

Just A Quickie

And really, it will be. Promise. ;-) Just wanted to pop in and wish ya'll all a safe and happy Labor Day weekend. If ya gotta work Monday...God love ya and I'll be thinkin' 'bout ya. hehehe And FYI...I didn't kill anyone last night but I was thisclose to being unChristian and flipping off the dude who cut me off at the fourway stop and then blocked me from making my turn which forced me to go the way that I did NOT want to go to get off campus. Grrrrr...No offense to any football fans who read this blog (I'm sure ya'll are more courteous than SC and MSU fans) but FOOTBALL FANS SUCK! hehehehe Now, I'm off for my long (figuratively and litterally) weekend. See ya'll on Tuesday if I survive!
