Hopeful

For the first day this week, I have NO MEETINGS and NO TRAINING for anyone. I am 100% free and clear to do whatever I want to do with my work day. You know, workwise. I can pick my own project, stay in my cube and just breathe a little today. After a week of nonstop doing of ALL THE THINGS I need this day to remind me of all the things I love about my job. Because I do love my job. Under normal circumstances, it's a great place to work and despite this week's ego torches, there are some really great people with whom I work. Those are things I need to remember when the bullies eat at me and when things get overwhelming. I need to push myself to take a deep breath and focus on the GOOD in all things. There is good in life. There is good in work. It's not all sunshine and roses but it's not all sludge and haters, either. I'm still feeling a little emotionally tender today. A little bruised and frayed around the edges. My hope is that I can avoid anyone who I KNOW i...

Black mascara tears

Had a really great day right up until a bully who shouldn't matter to me sank her teeth into my thin skin. I don't know why I give the ol' biddy and her hatefulness a single thought. I know how atrocious she can be. It's just been awhile since she set her sights on me. And I'm also still tender from earlier in the week.  Anyway, so I came home and had a good cry, gave myself a pep talk and snuggled my Libs. If I can manage to fly under the radar tomorrow I'm hopeful that it should be all good.  Please, Lord, give me a happy Friday.

Joy Giver

This girl. She makes my heart full.  Thank God for giving me this one true joy.

Bleh

Is it bad to start the day out with tears because you just really don't want to get out of bed and deal with your life even though you know how blessed you are and you're being completly ridiculous? It is? Yes. Yes, it is. I feel so stupid and selfish to feel this way. I know my life isn't that bad. My job isn't a complete nightmare and things could always be worse. I'm not homeless or hungry. I'm cold but not because I don't have heat. I'm just cheap. I have an amazing family and some really great friends. I'm blessed beyond measure and I know that.  So why then does the thought of getting out of bed and leaving my house leave me feeling so tired, frustrated and sad? Why do I greet each day with dread? I pray and I talk to God. I know He's listening. I also know that I have just had the misfortune to have had a STRING of crazy, annoying and sometimes head smacking days. A lot of angry days full of annoyance, too. Nearly a month of them...

Saturday Rest Day

Oh nothin'. Just chillaxin' and enjoying some down time.

Completely Cray

This week has been a steam roller. Yes, even with it being a four day week. I'm completely whipped. Overwhelmed. Mentally, physically and emotionally drained dry.  Thank God today is Friday!!

Someone's 40!!

And it isn't me! Haha Her actual birthday isn't until the 26th but she's got other plans that weekend. So she came home THIS weekend to celebrate with the usual suspects.  Fun ensued. ;-)

Saturday sweetie

Argh!!!

That's about all I can say about yesterday. And I get the feeling EVERY DAY is going to be like that for a while.  *sob* Pray for me?

True Fact

You know what happens when you don't have a dishwasher and let the dishes pile in the sink all week? You waste a precious Saturday morning hour elbow deep in dishwater.  *faceplant*

The Sweet Life

This is my favorite place to be with my favorite snuggle buddy.  Wish I was there now.

Longest Week Ever

So I don't know about ya'll, but this week? This week has lasted three  years. Or that's what it feels like, anyway. So. Freaking. Tired. I probably shouldn't even write a blog post because I don't really have anything to report. Just sleep, eating and the fact that I haven't washed dishes all week long. Sink is overflowing and the bigger the pile gets, the less I want to deal with it. Which is sad because while I was off for Christmas? Dishes washed every stupid day. Bed made every day. Laundry basket didn't overflow and everything that I washed got promptly removed from the dryer, folded and put away ON THE SAME DAY. I haven't made my bed since the Friday after New Year's Day. Same with laundry. I did wash dishes Sunday morning but after that? Nothing. It helps that I haven't actually cooked anything other than eggs all week. Eggs for breakfast and rewash the skillet. For supper I've just been heating soup and chili and that one time ...

Sexy Winterwear

Image
So, we've been having record low temps for the past few days. Yesterday it was freaking 9 degrees. And since I'm more used to having another number AFTER 9,  I have been woefully unprepared. I don't even own a proper coat, y'all. I got lotsa jackets and cardigans, but winter coats? Not so much.  I do have this ridiculously warm hooded sweatshirt jacket that I've been making due with. That and a scarf and gloves.  Wanna see?  Sexy, right?  Hahahaha

Weekend Review: The I Pretended It Was Still Christmas Break Edition

So, I survived my first day back at work just in time for Saturday! Yay! haha Friday night was pretty quiet. I read and watched Grimm and snuggled the DP. She missed me, poor baby. Then Saturday I did my usual Saturday morning shopping/breakfast and came home and read. I didn't do laundry. I didn't clean the house. I did clean the kitchen up just because I knew it would make me feel better to have a clean kitchen. But I'd already done laundry on Thursday because I knew I'd want to veg Saturday. So that's what I did. I vegged on the loveseat with the DP at my side (and sometimes in my face) and read another book. It was utterly delicious. Until Mama texted around 2:00 wanting me to come help her dismantle the church's Christmas tree. Well, actually, it was the tree we had at the anniversary party but we also used it as the church's Christmas tree. Either way, my quiet day was interrupted for about an hour while I went and helped with that and then clean...

Pottery Results

Image
So Goofus picked up our pottery for us today. Here's my egg crate jewelry sorter.   Yes, it's a ceramic egg carton/crate intended to hold eggs. But. I liked the idea of using this sort of thing to sort jewelry ever since I saw Sherry do it but could never find anything like it that didn't cost a fortune. This beauty? She only cost me around $8 and the hour and a half it took me to paint it.   Since I went with this blue instead of a red or brown, though, I've decided to let it inspire me to update the accent colors in my bedroom from red to blue. I'm kind of over the red anyway and blue has always been my first love. And here is a couple shots of Emmy's cup.    Her original intention was to do a chevron pattern on the bottom but time ran out. I think I like it like this better, anyway. And after I sent her some texts of it, I think she did, too. I love how they both turned out. :-) Now. To get back to the pottery place to make so...

Back To Work!

Image
So it's back to work. That was me you heard sobbing so violently this morning. I completely enjoyed my time reading, lazing and gallivanting around with the kiddos and was completely unready to return to 5am alarm clocks, reference assisting and people all up in my face.   I read FOUR BOOKS, YA'LL. FOUR. Sad to say, but in between being overwhelmed with life and slightly depressed, I hardly read four books all year, much less four in a row. But I loved every stinkin' minute of it while I was off. And I slept in and cooked decadent breakfasts (stuffed French toast for the win!) and just thoroughly enjoyed being away from responsibilities, deadlines and supervision.   Anyway, I know I blogged a bit while I was off but there were a few things I missed and wanted to catch you up on since I have access to a full on keyboard.   First, these earrings!     They were a gift from the folks and I love them! They're handmade by a vendor a...

Happy 2014!!

Image
I was a total slug yesterday but today Libs and I headed up to Nana's to visit with our favorite kiddos. Emmy's been with Nana and Bobo since Christmas and Sis2 brought the other two out today. Just a general day of silly fun.  Oh, and two big pieces of news... Lyssa lost her first tooth Sunday: The tooth fairy brought her three whole dollars!! And Emmy got her first deer of the season this afternoon: (Don't look if you're opposed to dead deer/hunting) Tomorrow is Emmy's last day here and my last day off from work. I need at least another week off. *sigh*
