I'm Lost

Boy.  Last night was the most intense 2.5 hours of my LIFE.

Well, the part of my life that I relegate to television viewing, anyway.

Last night, as you may have heard, was THE END for LOST. If you haven't been watching it for the past six years, what were you doing with your life? LOL

No, I know. It was one of those things you were either fully emersed in or you didn't want to expend the energy it took to follow it. Because it did take a lot of energy to follow it. And as much as I was held captivated by it, I am really too stupid to really full grasp it.

No, seriously. I've read the discussion boards. I've followed other blogs about it. And I'd always be like, "Why didn't I catch that?" or "I completly missed that." My brain is merely too simple to comprehend all the little mysteries and tie-ins and connections that were hidden throughout six seasons of this show.

It was no different last night. Honestly, the finale was gripping and intense. I was literally on the edge of my seat throughtout the last hour--the DP was NOT happy with me last night. So involved was I that she was doing everything she could think of to get my attention. She may have even stood on her head at one point but I wouldn't know because I was THAT INVOLVED in the show. Poor Libster.

But the end left me squealing, "What? I don't understand. What does this MEAN? What just happened? And why doesn't my TV rewind??" Seriously, WHY didn't I record it so that I could go back and watch it a few times to pick up on the things I missed? lol

So I lurked around on some discussion boards this morning and I think I'm finally at peace with the end. I get it now. Well, sort of, I get it. (Whoever compared it to the film The Passengers THANK YOU. That helped a lot!) I'd still like to know why Jack and Juliette had a kid in the flash sideways and what happened to the kid when they all crossed over. I'd also like to know why baby Aaron was included in the crossing over if Aaron actually was born on the island but left three years ago with the oceanic six.

And also, I want to marry Matthew Fox now and have his baby. Is he married in real life? Someone check on that and get back to me? hehehehe

Apparently, I'll never know the answers to any of these questions. And that's okay, I guess.

I may hafta buy the boxed set when it comes out in August, though. Unless it costs a bazillion dollars like the Gilmore Girls boxed set. Oy vey.

So yeah, I was up late last night watching LOST. Wanted to stay up and watch the Jimmy Kimmel aftershow but since it didn't come on until 11, I set the recorder for it and went to bed. But couldn't sleep. And when I DID sleep, I dreamed about LOST. And woke up fiftenn minutes late this morning because I'd forgotten to set the alarm! Thank God I had to pee or I'd have likely slept till ten! hehehe

But you know, I did have a life before the LOST finale. Well, a weekend, before it, anyway. A weekend mostly full of nothing special. (Hours of HGTV, cleaning the kitchen, laundry, lying around aimlessly like a slug--it was nice!) But I did finish that Smart Bitches recommend, Something About You by Julie James. Frankly, I want to know if SB read the same novel I did. Because...meh. I wasn't all that impressed by it. There was a LOT of backstory infodump. A LOT of telling instead of showing. In fact, most of the book is spent explaining something to the reader. Something that happened in the past or something that a character is thinking/feeling and the backstory to WHY the character is thinking/feeling it. Sure, some of the bits of dialoge between the heroine, Cameron and the hero, Jack, was funny-ish. But definitley not on par with the snap, crackle and pop that SB's lead me to believe. And honestly, I went into this book expecting to find something stellar. I mean, they included this novel so enthusiastically in their "Save the Contemporary" campaign--much like they did Victoria Dahl's Talk Me Down (which most certainly DID deliver the snap, crackle and pop) that I was certain to be satsified. Perhaps if I hadn't had that expectation I might have enjoyed it more. Although, I doubt it. Because I was fairly bored throughout. I've never been good at paying attention to stories being told to me. And that's exactly what Something About You did. It "told" me a story instead of letting me get involved in it. So, yeah. Not impressed. I guess them being so on the money with Talk Me Down was a fluke.

Anyway, I still feel restless and out of sorts from last night. I wish the coffee shop hadn't closed for the month. I REALLY need a chocolate almond latte to settle me down. ;-)

lol at LOST, Jana. I've been watching since day 1...never quite able to figure out what, exactly, was going on. And now that it's over I'm still not sure. I really think almost everyone feels the same way. Incidentally, I'm in love with Desmond.

Ahhhh, Desmond. Yeah. I can see why. The accent alone is enough to incite much drool. ;-)

I've watched since day 1, too. (well, not all of season one, but mostly) and now I don't know what to do with myself. There's such a void!!!

LOL

Sorry, was never a fan of Lost. What was I doing while it was on? Watching other (more worthwhile, IMO) programming, or reading. Last night it was a Miss Marple in PBS's Masterpiece Mystery, The Mirror Crack'd - and now I can't get the Tennyson poem "The Lady of Shalott" out of my head. (Movie title comes from a line in the poem.)

Oh, hey - you didn't say what you thought of the GW series finale or Medium season finale. You DID watch, yes?

Wow. Alrighty then. No more discussion of Lost with Trixie. :-P~~

As for GW, yeah, I watched. And well...I'm glad they tied it all up and there were no cliff hangers left unresolved. I was afraid there would be since they weren't neccessarily counting on being canceled. Unless they knew well before the rest of us.

But, you wanna know what my favorite part was? When the shadows got ahold of Melinda and she stopped talking all cutesy wootsy with Aiden and started snarling like REAL mothers. lol I think if they'd dragged that out through a few episodes it might have escaped cancellation! hehehe

Medium was pretty awesome. BUT...the end made me think they were thinking they WERE getting canceled. No usual Medium cliffhanger. I mean, if they'd wanted to be their usual selves, they'd have kept her dead and us guessing till the Fall, right? Instead, they tied it all up in a neat little bow, too. It felt completely weird as far as season finale's go. GREAT episode, don't get me wrong. Just felt sorta "The End"-ish to me.

Just call me Negative Nancy today, I guess. lol

Well, Negative Nancy...

I agree, I'm glad they tied up all the loose ends on GW. Loved George Wendt as the plumber ghost, and like you said - that Melinda wasn't baby-talking to Aidan the entire episode. At least Allison (Medium) loses her temper with her kids, LOL. It drives me nuts when people baby-talk to kids. Speak to them as though they're human beings and they'll actually grow up to have a vocabulary!

It did seem the writers of Medium weren't sure if they would get another year, so figured they'd best not leave with a cliffhanger. It was also a nice ending for Sofia Vassilieva's character (who really is 18), with Ariel going off to college in the fall. Except now we're bound to get more of the bratty Bridget.

Yes! That's one of my favorite parts about Medium...Allison and Joe argue like real married people and they relate to their kids like regular parents.

I'm sorry to see Ariel go, though. She really grew up to be a great asset to the show. You're right. Bridget is super bratty. lol
