Stop The World...

I'd like to get off now. lol So yesterday. Hmm...What can I say about yesterday? Well, my bosslady decided she needed some time off so instead of taking a planned vacation including detailed instructions on what I need to do to hold down the fort she decided a trip to the ER and some surgery was just the ticket. She tripped over a chair while working on an exhibit and broke her patella (aka kneecap) in three places. Not fun, I assure you. So she's going to be having surgery tomorrow and will likely be MIA for quite some time. Which means... dun dun dun Jana gets to handle everything on her own! Yay! Not. You know, I was just bitching the other day about wanting some more responsibility in my job. Well, I wasn't quite meaning I wanted ALL the responsibilities. At least not all at once and not without some preparation, planning, etc. I'm lost in a sea of crap that needs doing with only a flimsy list of instructions that confuse me more than helps me. Oh why, oh why did I ...

Tossing the Donut

No, the above title of this blog is not an euphemism for something. I literally tossed my donut in the TRASH when I meant to toss my coffee cup. You see THIS is why I avoid males whenever possible. They scramble my brain to the consistency of mush. *sigh* So I was minding my own business in the snackshop--reading a lovely book ( Sizzling , by Susan Mallory), drinking a lovely cup of coffee (Starbucks, Shadegrown, eight sugars and a half a cup of half and half) (just kidding about the half a cup of half and half...but only just barely. Starbucks coffee is afterall, very bitter and strong. Requires a lot of sweetener and cream to mellow it out.) I had already eaten one donut and was saving the the other for the second half of my break. (Yeah, so I should have bypassed the donuts altogether. I'm weak. I needed a sugar rush.) Dude comes in and sits opposite me. (Not a stranger. We work together.) He's not bad looking and I might confess to being the tiniest bit attracted to him....

Holy Quoting, Batman!

I'm quoted in my pal Donna Michaels' newest release, Valentine's Day Do-Over! Actually quoted! LOL Not that my quote is as awesome as if, say, Jennie Crusie had quoted, but STILL. LOL So yes, my pal, Donna Michaels has a new e-release available on The Wild Rose Press . The little scamp didn't tell me I was quoted. She must've wanted to see if I was actually going to buy the book. hehehehe Well I did, so there! :-P~~~ Anyway, now that I've got my thrill on, I'll get down to the nitty gritty self-absorption that is my weekend review. Grab a snack and some coffee and hang in there. It's going to be a long one. Consider yourself warned. ;-) So, I took a mental health day Friday. Not that I'm mentally healthier for having taken it but suffice it to say that I was in desperate need. Aside from the yuckiness that has been the past few weeks at work, I also needed that day to get my house in order. Meaning: I've been so lazy that the dishes were piled i...

Fun With Blogger

Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed. LOL Pardon the douple "Quikie" post from yesterday. If you ever saw them, that is. I did go and delete one of them. I do so hate repeating myself. ;-) So anyway to catch up on what's what with me... The Devil Pup's stalker. I've been meaning to tell this for a while but kept forgetting. But yeah. Libby's got her own stalker. lol There's this group of big dogs that sort of roam the neighborhood and they frequently cut through my yard. Usually when we're out there and they cut through and spot us, they stop, panic in their eyes and either run off in the opposite direction or bay at us until Libby gets so lathered up I have to take her inside. This one dog, however, the first time he spotted us, he sort of stopped and looked over his shoulder at her as he followed his friends off. The next time he stared at her a couple of minutes before turning and following his friends. Now we'll be out there, I...

A Quickie

And not the fun kind enjoyed by mose males. And some females. LOL No, this is just me checking in to say, I haven't forgotten ya'll. Yesterday was nuts on so many levels and I just didn't get in here. Well, I did, but I didn't get to type anything up. One distraction, derailment and sidetrack after another. Came in here earlier and tried to leave something but the server was down or whatever. (I will NOT call it Stupid. I will Not call it Stupid. Or dumb. Blogger is my friend.) hehehe (a little private joke I might expound on tomorrow.) Doesn't matter, though, as there's not much to report. Some sister stuff. A couple of work quirks. Maybe a Devil Pup "tail" or two. (Including the fact that she has her own stalker, now. lol) Perhaps tomorrow I'll get to bore...I mean regale y'all with it all. Perhaps. In the meantime, I've got a home to get to, a pup to feed and some laundry to avoid doing. (I'm down to my very last towel!) So catch yo...

Full Disclosure

Otherwise known as the weekend in review. So Friday was insane. We (my department/work) have been in preparation and planning for a Showcase/Gala event (a museum-like library-wide exhibit) since we returned from the holidays. (A bid to stump for some donations.) I hadn't really been asked to participate much beyond pulling some materials and covering the department while everyone else went to meetings, etc. But Friday was D-day as the event was Saturday. So Friday was intense. And well, actually, I still felt like so much mud on the bottom of shoes because...well, I got the impression that I was handed all the menial tasks because I'm not smart enough to do the really important stuff. And I swear, I thought if I got my "back patted" one more time for doing something as mundane as attaching ribbons to foam core I was going to scream. Honestly, though I look it and often times act it, I'm not retarded. I can handle tasks that involve thinking. And while, yes, it is ...

I'm not dead...

Just taken hostage by... werk ! *rockes back and forth and hums* Ugh! What a DAY! So much to do, so little time and then... back tomorrow night! Ugh! But you know I'll be back on Monday with full disclosure. hehehehe

Bah! Or Whatever.

So yesterday...yeah. *sigh* Thanks Heather, Kristie and Kaitlin. Ya'll are da BEST! You may not know it, but your words did help. So I had my good cry, gave myself a stern talking to and reitterated what I've always known. I'm okay. And as Kristie said, whatever will be will be. It's up to me to make myself happy about whatever happens. So, on with my life, right? I finished Melissa Senate's novel, Love You To Death and can I just say...It RAWKS. :-) A good mystery combined with Melissa's unique chick-litty voice and all the things I've loved about her previous books wrapped up in a very cool and fun package involving a seriously hawt detective named Ben. Yum-O. *swoon* Devil Pup was seriously agitated with me about it, too. I was reading (which she hates) while she was trying everything she knew to do to distract me. But I was undeterred. It was just that good. Of course, now I have to make it up to her by giving her my full undivided attention tonight. If...

Diary Of A Clueless Girl

Dear Diary, How do you tell when a guy is interested and when he's merely being nice? Or just trying to fit in? Or be friendly? And why is it that I can't relax around guys who are being friendly/nice to me? Even if I'm not interested in them ? *sigh* Life as a clueless single girl sucks. I know exactly squat about guys and how to talk to them and somehow always manage to convey my dorkiness before my coolness can be displayed. I guess I'll know he's THE ONE when he actually likes my dorkiness enough to stick around and discover my coolness, right? *big sigh* But then, I'm still uncertain that I even want to find THE ONE...if there's even a ONE out there for me. But you know, I'd settle for Mr. Right Now if it meant I had a date to the movies on Saturday night and a warm hug now and then...from someone OTHER than my parents. Not that I don't love my parents and their affection but...well, you know. ;-) How is it that I am so lame that I can go an e...

Oy Vey and then some...

Wow. What a day. Are we sure it ain't Monday? Sheesh! Sometimes I think three day weekends are harder on me than a regular week. Too much rest and relaxation and all that. Totally wreaks havoc on the old body. Work has been...crap. That's the best word. I was going to say "hellacious" but I'll save that word for those REALLY crappy days. You know. The ones with demanding patrons. Today's crap was just me doing stuff I'd been putting off because I didn't want to do it. Now I remember why I didn't want to do it. Because it sucks! I need an Aleve, a good stiff drink and a nap. So anyway, I hear tell that I need to post a weekend roundup. Well, here it bees. ;-) *wracks brains trying to remember just what DID happen this weekend* Let's see, Friday night I had to work until five. Totally sucked. I hate working later on Fridays. What's that you say? Five o'clock isn't late? It is to me. I normally get off work at four. :-P~~~ (some of us ...

Spit on Blogger!

What the crap is up with Blogger these days. I'm starting to think it doesn't like me anymore. Because I haven't made the switch to Beta? Is Beta that great that it maintains the right to snub those of us wary of so-called "improvements"? Bah! Anyway, yeah. Blogger is the reason for my abscence yesterday. I tried numerous times to get on here and drop a line or five but...*sigh* Nothin' doin'. So... Yeah, I basically got told this morning that I'm not very attractive. Not grotesque either, mind you, but definitely not attractive. Or even remotely pretty. Great way to start a Friday morning, let me tell you. LOL Nah, the person who said it wasn't being malicious or trying to hurt my feelings. Mostly it was just a case of her putting her foot in her mouth. LOL But it's nice to know for sure that I'm NOT as pretty as I think I'm not. hehehe (Did that even make sense?) So anyway, I'm extremely glad that today is Friday. This has been a...

Christmas Morning

Image
Yeah, that's a BB Gun she's got. Watch out! She's armed!! Fun with Easy Bake Oven! No, she didn't ask Santa for it. Santa decided that since she...err... he didn't get on when she...err... he was a kid that Emmy needed one. And yes, the thing is crap. All it baked was a brick with icing on it. This was my makeshif desk. Cute, ain't it? LOL And because I know ya'll can't get enough of her, Miss Libby!

See What I'm Talkin' About!

Image
So, I finally got Blogger to cooperate with uploading some photos! Yay, Blogger! Below is the illustrious Devil Pup at her Aunt Sis2's house. She loves that Sis2 and Goofus have those low windows. This was taken that weekend in early December when I was there for shopping and a movie. She loved playing with Goofus, as you can tell. They had a lot of fun. And of course, her Aunt Sis2 is a lot of fun as well. And then the accident happened. She looks so disgusted and put out! LOL But it didn't stop her from playing and chewing her chewie! You can't get a good pup down, you know. But then, she also had fun entertaining Aunt Sis1, too. But then, Sis1 was doing what she does best...talking on the phone! Libby looks like she was contemplating attacking Sis1's hand! LOL But she did have fun with Emmy on Christmas Eve. And Emmy had fun with her, too. Couple of wild hooligans, you know. And then there's all the Christmas dogs thrown in with the presents. More to come later...

The Dissertation Part Two

Okay, just so you know, I don’t have a problem with Charmed. I love Charmed. So much so that I’ve seen the re-runs so much that I can quote the dialog along with the characters and tell what season it is by the sister’s hair. Well, except for maybe Piper after season 2. Then she generally has the one hairstyle for the rest of the series. I just don’t want anyone thinking I don’t like Charmed. Like “settling” for it is a bad thing. It’s just…well, sometimes it’d be nice to watch something different. Like, you know, Good Deal with Dave Lieberman on Food Network. Okay, on with the completion (I hope) of this dissertation. lol Monday, December 25, 2006 So Christmas Day dawned really early for me. I woke up to go potty sometime around 4:30 and COULD NOT go back to sleep afterward. I couldn’t breath. My allergies or whatever had kicked up and stopped my nose up. I tried to get back to sleep, though. Lord knows I did. I flipped and flopped and tossed and turned, tried breathing through my mou...

The Dissertation Part One

Just so ya'll will have something to do over the weekend, here's the first part of the dissertation I've been working on for the past two days. It was three and a half pages in Word. So...yeah. Enjoy. ROFLOL Seems I left a lot of gaping holes in my return post. An error that will be rectified today. Hey, at least I warned you, right? So here’s the play by play. Just because I want to torture ya’ll. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006: Slept in. (Read: till 7am) Devil Pup not happy ‘bout that situation as her pea size bladder was ready to burst by then. Drank copious amounts of coffee, flipped through 48 channels of nothing on TV. Did you know that the Food Network broadcasts infomercials till 8:30 on weekdays? Oh the horrors! So I had to settle for Charmed re-runs with my bagel. Yes. A bagel with cream cheese, no less. And not even the reduced fat kind. We’re talking the real creamy delicious deal here. Slathered on in large quantities. But the bagel was a mini and it was whole wheat s...

Thursday Perks

So I've been working on a blog post for, like, EVER but it's taking too long and I likely won't finish it till tomorrow or, like, YEARS from now. So, in leiu of that post I thought I'd leave you some things that I have perked me up today. Melissa Senate has a new RDI book out this month, Love You to Death. It's a little different from what she's published in the past. It's more of a murder mystery. Normally I don't like Chick-Lit mysteries but having read both Jennifer Weiner's Goodnight Nobody and Lynda Curnyn's Killer Summer I know that really awesome author's can pull it off with stellar results. So yeah. I ordered it. hehehe The next installment of Rhett MacPherson's Torie O'Shea Mysteries, Dead Man Running is due to be released from World Wide Mysteries in March. Yeah, it's a long wait and yeah, I could have read the hardback by now but...Happy Birthday to Jana! hehehehe (I knew there was something wonderful and magic abo...

Readers Beware

The blogging fool is back. That would be me. Did I just hear someone groan? Don't make me come over there. hehehe So I totally missed this. Blogging. I blogged a million and ten times in my head at various moments during my absence. Not that there were any brilliant thoughts in there but you know, I had a lot going on that I needed to vent. Not that there was anything BAD, per se. Just a lot going on in my head. Before I get into all that I have to say first...thanks Latesha, Heather and Kate for the comments. Love ya'll to pieces. Truly. (((warm and fuzzy hugs))) Now. Back to the drama that is me. Can I just begin by saying that I'm ever so thankful to the man upstairs that 2007 at least has a fighting chance of being not so horribly terrible? I mean, considering how 2006 started out and all, I sort of expected it to suck monkey butt. But so far '07 hasn't dealt any crushing blows. It's early days yet but I've got my fingers crossed. ;-) So news, news... I...

Merry Christmas from Dixie

Well, Mississippi, anyway. That Alabama song, if you've heard it, Christmas in Dixie has always been one of my favorites. If you haven't heard it, where in the heck have you been all your life? ROFLOL So yeah, this is my very last post to all you lovely loyal peeps who find it in your hearts to keep up with my insanity. Well, my last post this YEAR, anyway. Unless, you know, I decide to come back later today and harrass ya'll some more. Which is entirely possibly cuz I'm mean like that. ;-) But before I get to all the sappy yadda yadda Merry Christmas see ya next year crap, here's what's happened since I left ya'll yesterday. My neighbor. I'm beginning to wish he'd get sucked up by aliens and forced to live as a man slave on Mars or something. Or, you know, at LEAST keep his redneck from interferring with my life. *sigh* So, yeah, he's not white trash as I previously stated. Dude is all Redneck. I got nuthin' against Rednecks seeing as I...
