You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."
Just for the record - people Chicago do NOT sound the same as people from Wisconsin. They have more of an accent.
As for pop...I tend to fluctuate between that and soda. I don't really like the word "pop" but when everyone around you uses it.... lol
