Deep in the Heart of Texas, Part 2

The wedding was in an outdoor chapel way up in the hills near their home. It was a beautiful location and a beautiful day for it. It had rained the day before it was a nice, cool, breezy day for an outdoor wedding.

My uncle, the groom's dad, played the wedding music on is guitar.

It was a gorgeous wedding and they are a lovely couple. I still can't believe my baby cousin is a married man but they suit each other perfectly.

Unfortunately, not all of the family could make it out there. Besides us and the immediate family, one other uncle and his wife were able to fly out there. I was so glad to get to be a part of it all.

The reception was in their front yard, and while the sun was bright and the bugs came out as the evening encroached, it was a beautiful and fun party. The bride's family did all the cooking and being that it was Texas, there was brisket, pulled pork, smoked sausage, mac and cheese, baked beans, glazed carrots, and a salad. And beer. Lots of beer.

They did all the set up and decorations themselves and it made for a lovely setting.

This was their version of a ring bearer's pillow. Pretty sweet, right?

Despite all the fun, we rolled out of Austin around 6:30 Monday morning, thankful to be headed home.

We stopped at another beautiful rest stop/storm shelter in Abbott, TX on our way back. Texas knows how to do these things up right!

We stopped at the Whataburger in Tyrell, TX for a late breakfast of honey butter chicken biscuits...Oh my yum! and Conveniently enough, there was a Starbucks two doors down that we were able to walk to for some sweet caffeinated relief.

This Grab-N-Go in Waskam, TX was a delight, too. Clean bathrooms...friendly staff.

Bossier City, LA

West Monroe, LA

Rayville, LA where we stopped to use the restrooms at Popeyes and my aunt overheard three guys joking about taking off with the three women in the Jeep...who would be us. lol

Somewhere on the Interstate in Louisiana.

Holmes County, MS...making headway towards home!

We ran into a little spot of rain right around here but it cleared up fairly quickly.

We stopped for a quick bite to eat at the Sonic near Canton, MS...home of Mississippi's Nissan plant.

I dozed off after Canton and didn't really perk up until we were almost home...

My baby missed me!

It was a great trip and I had a blast with my aunt and sister. We only got cranky with each other a handful of times and I'm only slightly disappointed that we didn't experience more of the Texas cuisine while there. They both promised we'd go back and stay in Waco longer. Once I get this stupid expensive hotel room bill paid off on my credit card, Imma hold them to it! :-D
