My Morning So Far And Chicken Little Asks a Question

Ugh. I'm at work today. But I don't expect sympathy because apparently everyone else's life sucks more than mine. According to the comments on the status update I left on FB yesterday, anyway. I made the mistake of mildly complaining about the fact that I have to work on a Saturday and the sympathy was just overwhelming. Or not so much, akshully. And don't you just hate that? When you're not really whining but not exactly happy about something and then everyone thinks it's just hillarious to tell you what a whiner you are for complaining because omigosh you're life could just be so much worse. You could have their lives!! :-O Yeah. Me neither. Sometimes it's all about the perspective, people. And it's not like I was looking for sympathy. You know, it was mostly complaining in fun, if that makes any sense. But anyway, boo on them. Get over yourselves already. Anyway, I got up early this morning to go grocery shopping, though not as early as I ...

Hands down...

One of my all time favorite faces to kiss. And she snuggles good, too.

The Good, The Bad and the Annoying

The Good: I was seriously, seriously dreading weighing in this morning. While I'd kept up (for the most part) with my activity (not exercise, just activity! hehe) I had indulged Wednesday with a BK Stacker from Burger King. A buddy had wanted to go but didn't want to go alone so I let her twist my arm into going with her. And then yesterday, after shelling out nearly $400 for new tires, I needed a boost to my mood so I indulged in a Java Chiller and a Subway sandwhich. So, yeah. I had the sinking sensation that I was not going to like the news the scales gave me. Happily, I was wrong. I'm down another pound. *squee* Color me elated. I'm just trying not to get TOO excited, though. I've discovered that too much excitement about it tends to make me get a little crazy and ultimately disappointed so I stop trying altogether. So, trying not to do that this time. It's so hard, but I'm hanging on by my fingernails. ;-) And yesterday I took off work to run som...

Strange But True Fact--My Ankles

Most of the time when I walk, my ankles pop with each step and they sound like someone clicking and unclicking a pen. I'm so used to it that I rarely ever notice it except when a buddy of mine points it out. She says, "Oh, you're really creaking today, huh?" And I'm all, "What? That's normal. I worry when they  don't pop."

Big News!!

Lyssa has tinkled in the potty TWICE today! hehehehe (And once yesterday.) After the one successful time yesterday followed by many many MANY pairs of wet panties (she's in "big girl panties!") Sis2 decided to try rewarding her for tinkling in the potty. So Lyssa finally tinkled this morning and Sis2 gave her a sticker. The second time Lyssa tinkled in the potty, she asked her mama, "Where's my sticker?" ROFL But hey, whatever works!

I've Been Busy...

Image
...Or, "Really, I need to stop." Especially since both my electric and phone bill made me cry this month. To sum up, "January and February have wreaked hell on my electric expenses and I'm never calling BFF again. Ever. I don't care if she did send me a really great Christmas gift this year." But I'm not blogging about the state of my finances. Although they COULD stand a sobbing blog post all their own. But no. I won't bore you with that. Today. I've got more house updates/changes! Jana's been a very busy woman the past month. Come with me. I'd like to introduce you to my newest best bud. His name is Ottoman. I call him sweet comfort and space relief. But that's just me waxing poetic over my newest best bud. He's so super friendly and versatile. For one thing, he doesn't take up NEARLY the amount of space as that old coffee table. And he's soft. So when I stub my toe on him, it doesn't hurt. Much. And he lik...

Newsflash: I'm Bored.

Image
Aren't you happy to know that? I also have nothing of value to say today so I'm just going to ramble. Okay? The weather here was gorgeous Saturday. I dug out my flip flops (as if I ever put them away) and tromped around outside in a short sleeved t-shirt and picked up sticks. (I was also wearing pants. I felt the need to clarify that.) And no, not the game pick-up-sticks, I literally picked up some frickin' sticks. Trees are a beautiful thing to have in one's yard. But dang are they messy. I should have been picking them up as they fell but, yeah. Hi. You've met me, right? I don't really do outdoorsy type chores. Except for Saturday. Saturday I was all over some sticks. Sort of. I randomly picked up some sticks and made two piles. Which I left. Mostly because I wanted to burn them but am scared that I'll set my house on fire. But also because I'm too lazy to actually haul them anywhere. And besides, picking up sticks was mostly an excuse to be ...

Got My Happy Face On

And it's not all about HPH, either. :-P~~ (I did keep smiling well into the evening, though. Pathetic!) No, today's happy face is brought to you by the letter "P" which is used in the word "Progress". As in, I've made some. Small, but true progress. Unfortunately, the progress is not in my uneventful lovelife (or maybe that should be fortunately? ) No, the progress is in my renewed weightloss committment. Finally... finally ...after a month and a half of working, praying, starving and crying, I lost...one pound!! hehehehe No, I know. Actually, I've lost 6lbs since the first week in January. But after the first five, I'd stalled out. For weeks! And worse, I yo-yo'd back up a couple or three pounds a couple of those weeks. Color me frustrated, angry and a wee bit mopey. But this week. Well, this week I started working at it a little harder. I started moving . Novel concept, that. I've started taking little "side-trips" thr...

Swoony Sigh

I got to talk to Heat Pump Hottie today. *swoon* Unfortunately it wasn't because he called me up for a date. No, that would be too beautiful. Instead, I called him up with a dumb paranoid question about my heat pump and got to give him a chuckle at how much a worrywart I am. Story of my life. But dang, I'd forgotten how sexy his voice is. *swoony sigh* Edited to add: It's ridiculous, really, how just hearing his voice...even though he's quite obviously NOT into me AT ALL...can still keep me smiling long after the conversation has end. hehehe Edited three hours later to add: Still smiling. :-D Edited three hours after that to add: Seriously. I've GOT to stop smiling. I'm starting to annoy myself. But...still smiling. *annoyingly swoony sigh*

News Around the Jana-o-sphere

So I'm basically back in high school again. *groan* BFF called me last night while sleazoid was in class because she had to confess...she done did sumthin' stoopid. No, she's not cheating on him but almost just as bad. Well, not really, but could be. To preface this developement you should know that most of our high school friendship involved me sitting with the phone to my ear for hours listening to her talk about a couple of particular boys that she dated. The stupid things she did with them, why did they treat her so badly, why did she put up with their crap, why couldn't she just walk away, etc. I had no idea because I was the chubby girl who stayed home watching Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman every Saturday night. But I'd always listen and make understanding noises and agree with her when she said she was so confused and try to put my two cents in whenever I could. Which she ignored. Always and as a rule. Mostly because I made too much sense. And everything I ...

So happy...

that I'm single. I don't ever want to be one of those crazy married women who wastes weeks of their lives being pissed off at their hubbies for not celebrating Valentine's Day by showering them with gifts and woo-woo declarations of love. Love is: Never having to buy a Hallmark Card to prove your affections. But on the flip side, any man who can't take two seconds to stop by Wal-Mart and pick up a card and a box of candy ain't much worth celebrating anyway. Happily single, I am.

All the boys...

They love me. hehehehe But me? I'd rather have... Yum. So, yeah. The banquet came out GREAT. Everyone had a wonderful time. Mama did an EXCELLENT job on the cooking. I totally rocked out the desserts and decorations. (Yeah, that's right. I'm pattin' myself on the back. hehehe) And the preacher and his wife hosted an excellent entertainment portion called "The Oldyweds." A rip off of "The Newlyweds" gameshow except that the couples had all been married 35+ years. And ya'll? LOL THAT was funny. We have some really fun people in our church. And all good sports. We laughed so hard at the three couples who played and they laughed at themselves. Too fun. But ya'll...boy, was I exhausted by the time I got home at 9:30. I'd been up since 6:30 and had worked on desserts, decorting, and preperation for all but three hours from the time I got up until the banquet started at 6:30pm. And then clean-up afterward. So yeah. Seriously exhaus...

Sugar Brain

A good donut will completely erase all thought from my head. Three, well, three just makes me giddy stupid. I had three this morning. Forgot my annual review with supervisor. Forgot the project I was working on. I think I may have even forgotten my name. Dang, those donuts were good. *drool* Shoot. I forgot what I came in here for.

Strange What You Remember

So Friday night during Ghost Whisperer, I gave myself a pedicure. Well, I didn't paint or shape my toe nails. I just soaked my feet and scraped the junk off. (Ewe. Right?) Something you may not know about me (and could probably live happily never knowing...oh well!) is that I have horrible feet. Callouses on my toes and heels, cracked heels--you know those commercials for the Ped Egg when they show really nasty feet? Yeah. Mine are WAY worse. Something about the way I walk (I'm flat footed) makes my big toe on my right foot grow a callous the size of Montana if I'm not dilligent in keeping it scraped. And yeah, I realize this is gross, but bare with me. I do have a point. So anyway, while I was scraping my feet, I had another Paw-Paw memory. Weird, right? LOL But most of the things I recall the easiest about him are weird. We're a strange family, what can I say? Anyway, back a couple of years ago before he got so sick, we were sitting in church chatting like usu...

He Speaks

I often times wonder, "What am I here for? What's my purpose in life?" It's the kind of conversation I have with myself and with my God all the time. Sometimes I feel like I'm merely taking up space. I don't contribute anything, I don't do anything. I just feel wretchedly useless. I've long waited for an answer, though I know a lot of folks would say to me, "I'm sure you contribute more than you know." Maybe I do and maybe I don't. I don't really know. But more often than not, I don't feel as though I serve any purpose. That the world wouldn't suffer if I never existed. Now, this isn't one of those, "Woe is me, I'm so depressed" posts, though ya'll know I can knock some of those out fairly easily, too. It's no secret that I suffer from bouts of depression. But this isn't one of those instances. Today, I got my answer! When I got out of bed this morning, my first thought was, "Why sh...

Strange but True Fact--The Devil Pup

Image
One of my all time favorite habits the DP has acquired: After she finishes her "puppy chow" she slurps water, jumps in my lap and gets right in my face and...burps. hehehe I crack up every time.

Exhaustified

I. Am. Exhausted. (And I can't even check to see if I spelled that right because I switched over to the new box and it doesn't. fricken. have. spellcheck! Wha??? Will be switching back ASAP.) I don't know what got into me Saturday. Whatever it was, I hope it doesn't come back for a while. But, I worked by butt off. Not that you could tell by looking at my butt. It's still ginormous. But it's all achey. After a quiet Friday night (pizza, Ghost Whisperer and Medium enjoyed in my recliner with the DP) I woke up Saturday morning positively invigorated. I got up early and did my grocery shopping and once back home, I sat long enough to eat my chicken biscuit and drink my hazelnut capp. (can't spell that word either, so I'm abbreviating, ya'll) before totally going nuts. I showered (neccessary), mixed and kneaded bread and set it to rise, baked some cookies for Daddy, washed dishes, did laundry, kneaded the bred and set it rise in the loaf pan, swept, ...

Reminisce

When I first started my job as a library staff, I was a fresh faced twenty-two year old who had just obtained a BA in Communication. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life upon graduation--no goals or ambition--and I was pretty certain that my timidity would do little toward securing me a job in the Broadcasting field in which I was so newly educated. What I did know was that I liked working at the library. I'd worked there through the entire four years of college as a student assistant in Acquisitions. After the first couple of years I'd begun receiving staff tasks and duties (because the staff I worked with weren't terribly productive) and this gave me such a huge sense of belonging. I loved my job in Acquisitions. I loved the flow of it, the pace--I even grew to be comfortable speaking with book vendors and billing agencies. What I also knew was that I wanted to move out of the folk's house. After twenty-two years of being smothered, I'd had enough. I nee...

Glamour Girl

Image
Libby almost seems to be too plain a name for such a gorgeous girl. I feel like I should have named her Veronica or something.

Shake your grove thang, shake your grove thang, yeah!

I shook my groove thang a little bit too hard last night and now my hips are screaming bloody murder at me. Fun. lol And yes, I realize that me shaking my groove thang is a terribly scary thought considering, you know, the girth of my groove thang. But hey, I was alone and that, my friends, is the best time to shake it. Besides, sometimes a girl's just gotta dance. Big butt and flabby gut or not. The Devil Pup said she'll be sending me a bill for all the therapy she's going to need.
