Because it has rained off and on since Monday... Disclaimer: This is not my photo. I pulled it from Facebook.

Done

Without going into too much detail, I'd like to declare this one of the WORST Christmases EVER and I am glad it's done. If you asked me right now what my favorite holiday is, I'd say 4th of July. Nobody gets their feelings hurt on 4th of July. Well, it's more rare to get your feelings hurt on 4th of July.  If weren't so tired, I'd pack up all this Christmas crap up tomorrow and pretend it never happened. And if I could get away with it, I wouldn't see, speak or talk to anyone the rest of the week. My friend, Laura, had the right idea by touring Europe during Christmas break.  And no, it wasn't me that hits feelings crushed this year. But somehow it's worse when you see it happen to someone else.  So, yeah. I'm done with Christmas. I can love Jesus so much more without all this man-made holiday junk.  Hope everyone else had a better day than I did.

Wrapped Up

Presents all bought, wrapped and ready to go. Bring in the Christmas!

Humbug

So this is my last full day of work for the year. I'm leaving at 10 on Monday and refuse to believe that I ever have to come back on the fifth. Of course, I will likely post a photo or twenty while I'm off. Probably. This has been the SLOWEST week EVER and the past two days have lasted two lifetimes. Will Christmas break never come? I did something exciting yesterday morning but I can't really talk about it. I might email the info to you if you really wanna know. But not putting it out on the 'net because I look stupid but in fact, I am not. Not entirely, anyway. Speaking of being stupid, I'm convince that my pastor thinks I'm slow. Like, mentally slow. He often speaks slowly and enunciates to me and always does this weird half bow thing when he shakes my hand. It's weird. He doesn't do it to anyone else. I guess I'm "special?" *shrug* Take Sunday, for instance. We had our church Christmas lunch which involves gifting the pastor...

Dear Santa, I haven't been entirely good this year but I haven't been entirely bad either. More middle of the road.  To be fair, a lot of my naughtiness was the direct result of other people but since I'm an adult I won't lay blame.  For Christmas this year what I want can't be bought or made, so you may hafta get God to help ya out.   I'd really love it if both my parents could have some improved health. They both had a tricky 2014 and I know we could all enjoy a break from health problems.  I'd also love it if my sisters could figure out how to have more peace in their marriages. I don't know all the ins and outs but I know that marriage shouldn't be so hard.  The kids are all such blessings. I'd really love it if they could all grown up safe and happy.  And if you have time, I'd really love it if you could help me realize my professional dreams.  Oh! And Libby wants a lifetime supply of Milkbones. She's such a good pup, you should help...

Evaluation

With 2014 rapidly coming to a close, I've taken stock of myself as I sit right now and I have come to the realization that I am a HOT MESS. If "hot mess" means that I am so far beyond a mess that I am currently a steaming pile of poo. Which I assume it does. Exhibit A. I am the heaviest I have been since 2006. Heavier, actually. About 5 pounds heavier than I was in 2006. I had to buy almost all new pants because my old ones were a) beginning to unravel and b) literally busting at the seams! I would love to blame it all on stress. 2014 has been one of THE most stressful years of my life. Like, worse than the year my supervisor retired and I was suddenly thrust into a supervisory role without the paycheck to back it up. Who knew that being a supervisor could be less stressful than being supervised ? I certainly didn't. But there it is. But stress can only take so much of the blame. The majority of the blame rests squarely on my chubby shoulders. Truth is? I jus...

This is how we do.

When we are bored, we selfie. I've been told that this is about as bad as drunk texting.

Update On Daddy

Daddy came through his procedures fine. They weren't very pleasant, of course. I don't imagine that tubes down a person's throat or a shock to the heart would ever be considered fun. :-/ But he came through them fine and came home last night. Mama said he slept off the anesthesia all night and has strict orders to rest today and tomorrow, at least. Not sure how all this going to affect his normal routines. You know it's deer hunting season. Their neighbor who is a nurse said that he will need to use caution when shooting because a strong enough kickback from a rifle or shotgun could knock his heart back out of sinus rhythm. Which would mean that he'd be at risk again for heart attack, stroke, etc. and likely wouldn't even know it. So. Yeah. Anyway, I'm just so grateful that he came through yesterday without any problems and they made it home safely. I know how blessed I am to still have my daddy with me. Most of my friends don't have theirs anymo...

It's not new, but ever since I stumbled on it, I CAN'T STOP playing this video. Also? I need a life.

Catching Up

I thought that once the Gala was over that I'd have more time to write. Boy was I wrong! I ended up being mostly out the week of Thanksgiving and last week I planned and executed two parties (a baby shower and the pizza party!) and focused on getting the department put back together from the Gala. And I got sucked into some other minor things, as well. So...no writing! I figure the photos did plenty of talking, though, so you didn't miss out on any of the highlights of my life. ;-) From now until February, D, my coworker for whom we threw the baby shower, is gone. She goes in on Wednesday for a scheduled C-section. Bless her heart, she had to do all the most stressful work during her last trimester so she has EARNED a little two day break before the baby arrives. I, however, MISS HER. It's going to be a long 6-12 weeks without her. PLUS, having to navigate who's filling in her responsibilities is a stinker. Already this week we've had to turn the department upside...

I don't know if I understand life anymore

Image
So today we gave our "kids" (aka student assistants) a Christmas pizza party to thank them for all their hard work and dedication to our department. I've always thought this was a form of appreciation that college kids enjoy. I was wrong.  Half my students altogether skipped it and one student who showed up to work her regular hours, I had to strong arm into joining the party. Later, as she and the three other students who attended passed me on their way back to the office, I heard her say, "I'd have rather worked."  1. Where is that work ethic in the rest of society--myself included? 2. Ungrateful heifer!  3. How do kids forget to/not want to show up for free food? It just does not compute to me.  I just don't understand life anymore. Edited to add: I really don't like life anymore, either. I don't know all the details yet, but I just found out that Daddy's having heart problems again. New heart problems b...

Funny

Image
I've never paid much attention to college football polls. Probably because I never had a good reason to. Unfortunately, after a long run in the top five, we fell to number 10 after that dismal fall to the school up north this weekend.  Funny where we landed, though...just above Trixie's Badgers!! :-D  Sad that we lost to our most vicious rivals but excited that we did as well as we did this season. :-)

Saturday Excitement

Image
That time a bird got in the house.  And pooped in my Puffs Plus.  It survived and after a panicked and fruitless call to Daddy (who laughed at me! lol), it finally flew out the back door.  Got the ol' heart pumping, anyway. 8-D

And everyone lived

Image
Gingerbread replica of Lee Hall.  Which was yummy...or so I hear.  The MS State tree in my department.  Lyssa was enamored of Santa. So much so that she forgot what she waned for Christmas.  They made ornaments.  And decorated cookies.  Special Collections' Angels.  There was a "symphony." And singers.  One table of six displays I put together today.  I am TIRED. Was up there shortly after 8am and didn't leave the library until around 5:30 pm. Back tomorrow to put it all away!

Two Truths And A Lie

1. I've finished all my Christmas shopping.  2. It only took me thirty minutes to wash dishes today.  3. I was accused of slacking off at work.

What I've been up to

20-25

Tide may have rolled but it wasn't an easy ride. There was no crimson in their tide. No bloodbath. It was a good game. Bama was just 5 points better than us.  Haters gonna hate but I still yell Hail State! PS: <a href="http://www.wordtrix.blogspot.com">Heather's<\a> Badgers whipped the snot out if Nebraska. :-D

Two Truths and a Lie

1. I've been washing dishes for an hour and a half and still am not finished.  2. Today is Emmy's 15th birthday.  3. I had a hot date last night.  Bet you can't guess which one's the lie. lol
