Tagged! Book Buzz

Heather aka Trix aka RAT :-P~~~ tagged me. (You know I lubs ya!) The instructions are as follows: Three categories of books are listed below: 5 MUST Read Books, 5 Books on Your Nightstand, and 5 Look For These Soon. Anyone I tag should put these same lists on their blog but SUBTRACT one book from each list and ADD one of their own. Then they should tag at least 5 more bloggers. It will be fun to see how the list changes as it goes around the blogosphere. Please come back to this post and leave a comment so I can see how the lists are changing. Since this is Book Buzz…please keep your lists to titles released in 2007-2009. 5 MUST Read Books: Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer (entire series, really) Alibi in High Heels by Gemma Halliday (Again, suggest entire series) A Mile in My Flip-Flops by Melody Carlson Lover Unbound by J.R. Rainy Days

It's wet here in Mississippi. It has rained for three days straight. While I'm sure we need it, it's still yucky. I hate driving in it and it definitely complicates all the leaks that have sprung in the ol' library. (New roof. Pffftt!) Perfect lazy weather, though. Which was exactly what yesterday was. A lazy Sunday. I didn't even go to church, I was so lazy. The rain lulled me into slug status and instead I stayed home all day lounging around on the couch watching DVD's and television. I was even too lazy to read! LOL That is, until Sis2 called and asked me to babysit. They're really going to miss me when they move across town whenever that is. (They've bought some property they'll eventually build on.) As it stands now, I live a mere two streets over and seeing as I have no life, can babysit on a moment's notice. And I don't mind it, really. Lyssa's a good baby, easy to entertain and fun to play with. And if all else fails, give the gir...

Can I get a "Woot woot!"

*singing* It's Friday! It's Friday! hehehehe God bless this long tiring week. Finally...FINALLY...it's over. And God is SOOOO good. Let's just say He answered a major prayer for me last night and I'm ever-so-thankful. :-) I bought Taylor Swift's CD last weekend. I know, I know, it's been out FOREVER and I hadn't really planned on ever buying it. Not because I don't like her music but because I didn't think I liked her enough to spend my hard earned...err...well, my cash on her. hehehe At least, not until I heard the song " Shoulda Said No." Emmy and I fell in love with it when we heard it back in June. I knew then that I had to have the CD (because Jana's still backassward when it comes to technology the likes of musical downloading). Soooo , since last weekend was Alyssa's birthday I knew I wanted to get Emmy something so maybe she wouldn't be all that terribly jealous of Alyssa getting gifts. (Hey, she's nine. It...

Street Finds

God bless my innocent little country girl's soul... I was one part shocked and two part's amused at what I nearly stepped on as I took the Devil Pup for our morning jaunt down the street. A condom ! Apparently used, too. Somebody on our street's gettin ' some!

Art? Are you sure?

Image
Unfortunately, this isn't an image I pulled of the internets. No, sadly, I pulled this image from my camera. My family, what can I say? They has a weird sense of landscaping skilz. LOL But seriously, it's actually intended to be a joke. The folks just recently finished a complete bathroom renovation including new toilet. Since Sis1 is always busting their humps about being rednecks who do redneck things they thought it'd be fun to gag her this weekend with the old toilet as a flower planter. Pretty cute, huh? I just hope they don't LEAVE their little joke in the yard. Wouldn't put it past 'em. :-/

Hey Lyssa, It's your Birthday...

Image
Party, that is. ;-) So when we first started talking about Lyssa's first birthday party Sis2 said she was keeping it small. Somewhere between then and Saturday small became a relative term. *sigh* But we had a lot of fun putting it together. Don't get me wrong--it was hard work. We were there from 9:30 till 4:30. The party was at 2 so all but two of those hours were us putting out tables, decorations, etc., preparing food and setting out food, running last minute errands, cleaning up, putting away, etc. Needless to say, by the time I got home (home being the folks' house since Sis1 and Emmy were in town) I was completely and utterly exhausted. We all were. But in a totally good way. Alyssa had a ball visiting with the family that attended, eating cake, opening presents. The only time she got fussy at all was when they took the cake away from her. The girl is enough like her Aunt Jana that she loves her food. She'd have eaten that entire cake had they not taken it away ...

My Sexy Fat Calves

Ugh. I'm seriously starting to think I want to move to Siberia far far away from sleazes. Remember Maintenance Man? Yeah. I was wrong. He's not a player. He's a sleaze. At least as bad as Sleazoid of a few years back. Maybe I should be flattered. And I might have been if I hadn't been so sick to my stomach. Landlord finally got back from his extended trip and contacted the maintenance man about repairing my a/c. Now, Maintenance Man does this on the side, so it isn't as though he's a professional maintence person who works for a managment company. So MM calls me Thursday night and wants to know if it's okay to come over and repair my A/C leak. I look at the clock and it's nearly 8 o'clock but I'm thinking I want it fixed before the weekend so I say sure. Something told me I should call Goofus to come over and stay with me while MM is there. But it being nearly 8pm I figured they were in the middle of trying to put the baby down for the night so I...

Alyssa's Birthday Lunch

Image
We took Alyssa to out to lunch for her birthday. She had a grand old time eating and monkeying around. We gave her cupcake... And she enjoyed it... Alot! And the presents, too.

This time last year...

Image
Ah...how quickly a year passes. Was it really a year ago that I was sitting in that cold, cold hospital waitng room trying NOT to strangle Sis2's mother-in-law while we waited for Alyssa to be born? It both seems like forever ago and just yesterday. A year later she's a spunky, spirited, animated, sweet and demanding little girl. She's crawling to the point of almost walking, she's eating table food, bobbing her head to music. She's got a personality and she's not afraid to show it. So glad this isn't this time last year. Happy first birthday, sweet angel.

Water, water, everywhere...

*sigh* So it rained most of yesterday and the library got soaked--inside and out. Apparently the roofers missed a few (or a lot) of spots as they've been re-roofing our building. My department was only one of many that had to clean up from the mess and walk around garbage cans set out to catch the drips. This morning, new leaks were found as well. But oh, it's not just at work. My apartment still has a leaky roof. Three weeks ago my landlord promised me he'd have it taken care of. Yeah, well, apparently not. He's back in town now, though, and promised to repair the leak in my A/C unit. I guess we shall see if that happens and whether or not the roof gets fixed this time. If not, Jana might be holding her rent hostage next month until something is done. I'm seriously thinking I'm under some kind of water curse, though. lol Seems like ever since I moved into my apartment it's been one watery problem after another. This does not bode well, indeed it does not.

For Kaitlin...

Image
Because she gave me dem.. The towels, potholders, etc. look AWESOME in my little kitchen. Doncha think? Thank you, thank you, thank you, Kaitlin m'dear. You rawk. *smooches* Um, and yeah. I'm aware that I need to clean some yucky from the stove and backsplash. Not my mess so I'm a little peevish that I have to clean it hence the procrastination. hehehehe

Books, I haz dem.

Image
You know, I'm always fascinated when other people post pictures of their bookshelves so I thought I'd share. Besides, I finally got into the spare room and I'm rather proud of the fact that at least THAT side of the room is organized. hehehehe The Library This is the half of the spare room that I finally got organized. Not sure if the "decorations" on the top are going to stay the same but for now it'll do. My Pa-Paw actually built those shelves, in case you're curious. When they remodeled their house several years ago he split them between Sis2 and myself. When she married, she decided not to take hers with her to her new home so I happily ended up with both of them. If some of the shelves look empty, that's the result of my "cleaning fit" when I moved. The other half. Yeah, this half? Not so much organized yet. The boxes on the bed are gone, though. Still have to decide what to do with the two bags of stuffed animals. I'm sorta over the...

Ain't it always the way?

I sometimes have these really deep thoughts--realizations that my overwarped mind doesn't always process. When I have these deep thoughts and realizations I always say to myself, "Self, this will be GREAT fodder for the blog and/or journal." Sadly, I never remember them later and though I constantly say that I will, I rarely write them down at the moment they occur. So yeah, ya'll get left with my useless silly fluff. Which means, kids, my weekend review. Friday night: Contemplated ordering in, remembered that I'm broke and ate a frozen pizza instead. It was blah and I had to fight the Devil Pup to eat it. Fighting while trying to eat=pain in the butt. Watched Ghost Whisperer re-run and wondered where I can find me a Jim (the hubby--a seriously hawt firefighter who adores his wife and actually treats her with respect, tenderness, and totally believes in her). Played with the Devil Pup until I hurt my arm reaching under the couch for the 50th time to retrieve her ...

Ack!

I just got my statement from Mr. Mastercard...I charged over $100 on bagels, biscuits and coffee! That's alarming for two reasons. A) I'm going to blow up to 400lbs if I'm not careful and B) food is outrageously expensive! *sigh* Must do better. You know, I stopped charging the big stuff on there so that I can start paying down the balance. Never mind that each trip to the bagel shop is almost $5 for bagel, smear and coffee and not to mention the weekend trips to Micky D's for a chicken biscuit, hashbrown and coffee. Oh, but there's also lunches at Applebee's, Oby's, The Great Wall... Maybe moving into town wasn't such a good idea afterall. All this quick, easy and delicious food at easy access. :-/

Mai Doggeh, She Haz a Cute

Image
So school starts back today for the kiddos 'round here. I didn't realize how many kiddos resided in my neighborhood until this morning. That's right, ya'll, the Devil Pup got to meet the neighborhood kiddos who were by and large all waiting outside for the bus when we made our morning trek down the road to our mail-box. For the past two months it's been a quiet trek in the peaceful wee hours of the morning. A time of solitude, deep thinking and a little "Mama and Me" time for me and the Libster. Not so anymore. The Doggeh, she's not so fond of strangers. Big ones, small ones, tall ones, short ones. She's not fond of any of them. So yeah. Anyone who hadn't already gotten out of bed to send any kiddos off to school got a bark of an awakening. LOL But...even when she's bein' all I'll kick your butt, little boy she still has a cute. As we passed a couple of boys on our way back (boys who had tried to approach and pet her on our way t...

So Many Books, So Little Money

A common lament in my life. Why must all my favorite authors release books in the same month anyway? LOL Of course, it didn't help that I had a backlog of author faves from last month that I didn't get to buy. So I'm making up for it this month. And even then, I had to "uncart" three that I desperately wanted. Guess they'll have to wait till next month. *sigh* Here's the highlights, though. Susan Mallory, the happy accident discovery from ages ago when I order one of her books thinking she was Susan Andersen, has a new trilogy of books coming out. I missed last month's release, Sweet Talk , and of course couldn't buy it without getting this month's release, Sweet Spot. Even though I have to wait another month to get the third one I had to have these NOW. And the cherry on top of all that sweet Susan Mallory stuff--Susan Anderson has a new release out this month, too! Cutting Loose. Oh sweet mercy, am I happy. I'm almost OD'd on joy ...

The Ceiling's Falling! The Ceiling's Falling!

You know me and my Chicken Little history, right? Well this time, I think I'm not just making it up. LOL No, the sky isn't falling but the ceiling? Definitely maybe. Roofers have been working on our section of the library for the past couple of weeks and apparently they've employed a herd of elephants to work on it this morning. I kid ya'll not, it sounds like a rompin' stompin' good time is being had on the roof above me. And if the sound of ceiling dust sifting down is anything to go by, I might be gettin' a skylight above this here desk just any minute now. Few things scarier to a poor little southern girl's heart than a big boom overhead followed immediately by the sound of stuff falling from the ceiling. Not fun at all. In other rompin' stompin' good time news, we survived a stormy Saturday night. I was babysitting Alyssa when it hit. Their apartment has a skylight in the living room and ya'll...it's just too fun to watch lightenin...

Because I Iz a Stalker

Busted!

Ugh! I hate it when folks sneak up to my cubicle. LOL So happens I was being nosy on somebody's MySpace page (my cousin's friend) and the dude from downstairs who already thinks I'm totally goofy/crazy/weird comes up behind me to ask where to deliver the paper I'd ordered. Of course, me, instead of playing it cool like I don't CARE that I just got caught looking at some guy's MySpace page (and no, not because I was cruisin' for dudes...just curious to figure out which of three guys my cousin is actually dating--or if they're all dating each other. hehehehe) I immediately minimized the page like the dork I am and blushed furiously as I stammered like an IDIOT. *sigh* At least it wasn't my boss that busted me, huh? And maybe that'll teach me to be nosy. Yeah. Probably not. Still not sure which guy my cousin's dating, either. Maybe I'll ask him if he comes home for Christmas. Yeah. Probably not.

Not Much To Add

I have nothing going on today. Nada. Except the stupid, annoying, mind numbing roar of the roofers outside our buidling. Argh! Anyone else get frustrated when they google an old crush and can't come up with ANYTHING on them? That's just me? Oh. LOL No, I'm not turning stalker, it's just this one guy I had a thing for several years ago. He was my hero, of sorts. Slayed a dragon or two for me. (anyone who was conversatin' with me on Drifters or the Ringless thread on eHqn about six years ago might remember me mooning over him.) I came across a mutal friend's Facebook page yesterday and it made me think of him. I did find his Facebook page but some folks don't put ANYTHING of a personal nature on their pages. So. Frustrating to us stalker chicks. hehehehe Anyway, yeah, he was this really great hero type guy who I actually wasn't supposed to fraternize with because he was a student worker and I was his immediate supervisor. Keep in mind, that six years ago I...
