Sinking

I've just been tossed out on my ear. No more physical therapy. Well, other than the stupid un-likely excercises they gave me to do at home for the next month. Yeah right. Like I'm disciplined enough to do these at home. It's my lack of discipline that keeps me from doing regular "for my health" excercises. I'm just so frustrated and upset and GRRRR! I'm so pissed off I could spit and so discouraged that I just want to curl up in a ball and cry for a solid week. And I'm confused because what the doctor told me Wednesday is so at odds with what is happening right now. And just how in hell am I supposed to decide whether I need surgery or not when there's nobody monitoring my progress? Would it be too much to ask to actually have something I feel comfortable with happening? They take this decision away from me but leave me with the biggie. In what world is that fair? I guess in a way, I feel betrayed, too. These are the people who are supposed to hel...

Survey

Swiped this from Kaitlin's blog who swiped it from someone else. lol Aren't we a fun lot of theives? hehehehehe 1. FIRST NAME? Jana 2. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE? Well, my first name was riffed off from a cartoon named Jana of the Jungle because my oldest sister INSISTED. My middle name, Lynn, is sort of after my aunt, Ruby Lynn, though my parents SWEAR they didn't name me after her. lol 3. WHEN DID YOU LAST CRY? Yesterday though it wasn't the sobfest I deserved. I was at work and had to settle for a few brimming tears. *sigh* 4. WHAT IS ON YOUR DESKTOP BACKGROUND? At work it's a pic of my niece, Emmy. At home it's a picture my BIL took on one of his trips. It's like a tunnel somewhere in TN. 5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCHMEAT? Smoked turkey breast 6. KIDS? Nope. Unless you count the dog. hehe 7. IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU? Probably not. I'm kinda stuck up. hehe 8. DO YOU HAVE A JOURNAL ? Yep. A bound one at home and this b...

Knee Update

S o yesterday was my check up with the doctor concerning my knee. Apparently doctors don't really tell you what's best for you anymore. They just say, here's the two options. Take your pick. Deciding my fate where my hair is concerned? Sure. Figuring out whether I want to buy a new dress for Easter? Sure. I'll decide that. Deciding whether or not I want to be sliced and diced? Not so much. I'd rather someone ELSE decide that for me. You know, tell me my knee cap is gonna slide into my calf if I don't get the surgery. Tell me all the gruesome things that'll happen. But don't say, "It's up to you." If it were really up to me I'd have never slipped on the dang kitchen rug to start with! But yeah. He says to me, "Finish out physical therapy and see how you feel then. If you decide you don't need the surgery then you're good to go. If you feel like you want to go ahead and do it just give me a call. Otherwise, I'm done with ...

Playing Around

Oh, and before I forget. I've been (and probably will be) playing around with some links and stuff on here. I just figured out yesterday how to do links so I'm just playing around. If you want me to remove the link to your blog just say so. Or if you'd like me to ADD your link tell me that, too, by leaving me a comment with your link. If I like the site/blog, I'll add it. ;-)

Talking In My Sleep

No, not me. I'm not talking. Other people are. In my head, anyway. It's really getting to me, this whole "bonding" thing I've gotten going with Mama these days. Love the woman to death. Would gladly lay over train tracks for her and Lord knows she's been a huge help and blessing to me the past couple of months. But. The talking. It must stop. LOL You know, she's been driving me to and from work since I can't drive. Actually, she drives me just about everywhere I need to go. Shopping, doctor's appointments and all that good stuff. One thing one must understand about my mother and me though...We are polar opposites on most things. Much as it pains me (and it pains me GREATLY) to admit it, I am much more like Daddy than I am Mama. Well, mostly. I'm not quite as mean as Daddy can be and I'd like to think that I'm much prettier. hehe But you know, I'm a quiet gal. I like the peacefulness of not talking. Unless, of course, I'm the on...

Toothfairy Inflation

Since when did the friggen Toothfairy start leaving greenbacks??? All I ever got was a couple of stinkin' quarters. I feel jipped. lol Yeah, Emmy finally lost that stubborn tooth. She just got fed up with everyone nagging her about it so she wiggled and worked it for 45 minutes last night until she finally gave up and told her daddy to pull it. Thank the Lord. That's one less trauma in the child's life. lol Then the stinkin' Toothfairy left her SEVEN DOLLARS!!! What the heck? I thought it was wild that the previous two teeth she lost earned her $2 a piece. But $7? That's like...wow! Seriously, when I was a young'un, we got MAYBE seventy-five cents. Usually fifty though. The last tooth I lost she didn't leave ANYTHING. Can you imagine? Of course, by then I think I'd pretty much stopped believing in the Toothfairy. But still. I shouldn't say anything about Emmy's $7, though. One of her buddies got $20! $10 from the Toothfairy and $10 from his grand...

Open Flies and Other Junk

Yeah. My most recent foible. *sigh* You know that grad assistant I've been quasi-drooling over? Well, I'm still coming down from my weekend high and I shouted out a jaunty "Good Morning" to which he nearly fell out of his chair in shock. Went to the rest room and then came back through to give the other grad assistant (a female) some more blank time sheets. Had to pass right by the cutie grad assistant. Got back to my desk and sat down and...err...there's a breeze in my britches. I forgot to zip my fly! *groan* I seriously need a keeper. *sigh* But this weekend was pretty good. I was a little disappointed Friday night because I STILL didn't get that steak. Sis1 decided that she couldn't afford it even if I treated myself. So we went to Little Dooey's, the famous local bbq joint and had a pull pork sandwhich and onion slivers. It was good and I hadn't had Dooey's in a while so it was cool. Didn't go to the movies either, opting instead to re...

All Hail The Recent Birthday Girl

Yep. That would be me. I'm inching to the top of the hill (or at least the first hill, anyhow). Twenty-seven. I arranged Wednesday to be off for my birthday because, really. Who wants to work on their birthday? Not me. Besides, I get a day off to celebrate Martin Luther King's Birthday so why not get a day off to celebrate mine? I know me better and I'm still alive. (Not to say MLK ain't worth celebrating. He is. So don't get your panties/drawers/knickers/etc. in a twist.) So yeah. I had a "me" day. Or was hoping to, anyway. Now if there is one thing my family knows about me, it's my apathy towards the vile invention of the telephone. Yeah, yeah. I know it has it's uses and yes I enjoy a good long conversation with people I love. But. It's still a vile invention and more often than not is a major pain in the butt. So what does everyone do on my day to celebrate "me"? They call me, of course. lol Yeah, it's great and sweet and thou...

American Idol Rundown

So I'm a boob tube junkie. There I said it. lol And did anyone else watch American Idol last night? Could that poor Kelly girl BE any dumber? lol Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed myself, but seriously? Just what turnip truck DID she fall out of? rofl I think prolly the highlight of the night was when Ryan asked her what was new and she just sort of blankly looked at him then made some silly referral to her eyelashes not being so weird this time. (Apparently last week she wore fake ones and everyone got a real kick out of it.) And she just kept pointing out the sign that had a pickle with her face on it. (Her last name is Pickler.) Oh! And Simon called her a minx and she thought he was calling her a coat! ROFLOL (Mink anyone?) But she, at least, sang really well last night. So did a few others. I sadly missed Mandisa's performance. It must have been some kick butt trilling though cuz Simon called her sexy! Yeee Hawww! That's like a regular person...

Need sleep. Can't. Hold. Head up.

I think I must be fighting the voices in my head when I sleep cuz I sure feel like I haven't slept in two days. My eyes are heavy. My limbs feel like they weigh 100lbs. each. Even coffee didn't perk me up. But then, it never does cuz, yeah. I've got caffiene instead of blood anyway. What I really need is a two month long nap. On an island. In the middle of the ocean. With no phones. Then to top it all off, I was asking my supervisor if I can have Thursday off for my birthday and she asks me, "You're going to be 28, right?" and then didn't believe me when I said, "No. I'll be 27." Like I'm old enough to need to lie about my age. *groan* Then my mom and sister tag emailed me harrassing me for gift ideas and Mama said she'd take me out to lunch if I picked someplace cheap. It's my birthday. Should I really be forced to eat fast food? Not that I wouldn't kill for a Big Mac right now. Or a Big Bacon Classic. Hmmm...Okay. So I'm...

Lizard Hockey and Other True Tails of an Uneventful Weekend

LOL The tale of the lizard goes something like this. Okay, so Friday, I played hookie from work because I had to rendevous with the Roto Rooter Man (more on him later) to get my septic system unplugged yet again. So, I'm at home Friday morning watching sucky daytime television, drinking copious amounts of green tea when as I'm walking from the living room to the kitchen I glance over into the dining room and see something a little off. I can't really tell what it is. Looks like a stick. But how did a stick get into the house? Leaves, yeah. That's usual. Sticks? Not so much. So I mosey over to the dining room entrance and lean down to get a better look when suddenly the head of the "stick" moves and gives me a friggen heart attack! It wasn't a stick at all. It was a little brown lizard that sort of blended it with the wood floor. Ugh! So yeah, I'm a country girl and all but me and reptiles? Well, we ain't the best of friends. For perhaps the second ...

Cute Story of Little Johnny

Came across this e-mail from my friend, Jinny, and thought it was too cute. So, the generous person I am, I decided to share. *big grin* Warning: If you are easily offended by slightly suggestive jokes, don't bother reading further. I wouldn't want to traumatize your delicate sensibiliites. ;-) During class, a teacher trying to teach good manners, asks the students: "Students, if you were on a date, having supper with a nice young lady, how would you tell her that you have to go to the bathroom? Michael?" Michael: "Just a minute, I have to go pee." Teacher: "That would be rude and impolite!!! Teacher: "What about you Peter, how would you say it?" Peter: "I am sorry, but I really need to go to the bathroom, I'll be right back." Teacher: "That's better, but it's still not very nice to say the word bathroom at the dinner table. And you Little Johnny, are you able to use your intelligence for once and show us your good ...

Shaking Things Up...Or Not

Okay, so I haven't really spent too much time working on all things I said I wanted to improve in myself. Life has a way of distracting me and well, I'm easily distracted. lol It seems that I've slipped away from the whole "take charge, and break out of your shell mode" I so desperately wanted when I first started this blog. Not to say that I haven't grown. I have. Some, anyway. I still find myself trapped by my old fears and insecurities, though. For instance, I haven't tried anything new in a while. Never went to see a movie alone. I've sort of drifted. And forget about learning some social skills. Those still suck. The thing is, I'm just so awkward most of the time. I never know what to say or how to react and I'm forever getting it wrong. Like today. This morning I went down for coffee, alone this time because my co-workers were either out or busy. Well, the guy that's working down there this week I've "known" him for a fe...

Getting Use Out of the Fanny Lifter

Finally found a good and useful purpose for the Fanny Lifter I bought last year with all those THE FIRM workout videos. I dragged those puppies (stackable stools supposedly good for lifting and shaping your butt) out of the hall closet where I'd shoved them after that one and only ill-fated attempt at lifting my fanny and hauled them to work. Stack 'em and put a pillow on top and they make an excellent stool to prop my leg. hehehe Now, if only I could find good use for that sculpting stick... hehe Can you believe that the temps around here got up into the mid and upper 80's this weekend? Let me tell you, elastic and felt around your knee in 80-something degree temps is not fun. Sweaty knee anyone? Needless to say, I stayed my butt on the couch most of the weekend with that thing off and myself under the fan. Read three books this weekend, too. An old Special Edition titled Seven Reasons why, a 2003 Liz Fielding Romance titled, "The Ordinary Princess" and a 2001 Su...

In a Rage

No, not me. The weather yesterday. So I left work early yesterday, around one o'clock, due to an eminent storm system that was making it's way east from Texas. They were predicting strong winds...possibly straightline winds. At first they said 45-50 mph then they said 60-70mph. I honestly don't know which occurred at my house, but man did the wind and rain rage on for a good 20 minutes or so. I could feel it coming for the past couple of days. The temps had risen, the humidity was up and the winds had started to blow sometime around Tuesday or so. Yesterday when I left work you could just feel it coming. It was exhilarating to feel the heavy winds whipping my hair around. All the way home, it whipped the car and the trees swayed to accommodate it. Once home, I went raised the blinds in the living room in anticipation. Nothing worse than being caught off guard by it. That's when it gets scary for me. Otherwise I love a good storm. So I snuggled in on the couch with a Cr...

Four Gripes and a Happy

Sis1 emailed me yesterday with some yucky news. Her hours got cut back at work because they gave them to the new girl they hired AND get this...they're paying the new girl $2 more than they're paying Sis1. She's been at that job for, I don't know, three or four months? And they hire a new girl and she gets more hours and more money? It just seems my poor sister, no matter how hard she works or how hard she tries to do a good job, she's just always getting screwed over. For one reason or another. There's always some excuse for treating her shabbily. And none of it ever has to do with her job performance. She just has the worst luck in finding loyal and honest people to work with. Then there's this friend of mine at work who got turned down for promotion and tenure. He know's his job better than most, he works hard, he's done his research and yet because a couple of people on the committee are buttholes, he got turned down. That means he has a year and...

Progress Report

Ah, it isn't a progress on my growth as a woman. Still stagnant at the "trying to grow up" part. lol Nah, this is progress report on my knee. So yeah, yesterday was sort of a downer day for no apparent reason. Probably because there are like two or five more things added to the list of "Things Jana Doesn't Want to Deal With." That always bums me out because they're things I know I need to do and just get over with but things that I absolutely LOATH doing. I won't get into what they are because I know ya'll would be rolling your eyes at me and my silliness. Cuz they are such silly inconsequential things. I, however, just would rather look the other way and pretend that these things didn't exist. But, wonder of wonders, physical therapy had a really positive spin on the day. I don't know why, exactly, except that for the first time since I skidded on that danged kitchen rug, I can see a little bit of the light peaking out from the end of th...

My List

I'm in a particularly snotty mood today. Don't know why. Nothing bad's happened since I got up. I haven't had any run-in's with people I don't like. (Well, one, but she doesn't know I don't like her and probably wouldn't care if she DID know. And it wasn't so much as a run-in as it was us being in the same room and me wanting to scratch her eyes out. hehe) But I'm a little sore at this thing we call life and all the things that go on in it. I originally made a list of grievances...things I'm unhappy with at the moment. Things that bug me and make me REALLY wish I'd just never gotten out of bed. But, after making the list, I got to thinking. All those things are just minor pittances and an outlet of negativity. What I really needed was to count my blessings. So I am. Granted, it's likely not a complete list, but it's a start. Maybe it'll boost me out of this funk I'm in. And they are, btw, in no particular order. 1. My ...

The Marathon of DVD's

Also known as my weekend. lol So my supper plans with my aunt got postponed. My cousin (her daughter) decided that she wants to go with us when we go but she had already made plans . (She's young. She has a life that include plans. I'm old with no life. I rarely have advance plans. lol) So Aunt Lynn asked if we could postpone to this coming Friday night. I said cool. No problem. I was tired anyway. I had a grueling hour and a half at physical therapy. They worked me like a mule and whipped me till I bled. LOL Nah, it wasn't that bad but I did almost cry a couple of times. And I think I totally (and cluelessly) missed out on an opportunity to flirt with the cute intern. *sigh* It wasn't till after I'd gotten home that I realized he was trying to start a conversation with me when he was setting me up on the bike. At the time, though, I was mentally cringing at the thought of the painful experience I was about to be thrust into. lol He was probably just being nice tho...
